I am spending tomorrow afternoon at a salon where I will be subjected to their star treatments and then I have to give an appraisal of the service / marketing and products...

I am not particularly a salon type of girl and although I have a few ideas, I would really welcome your suggestions as to what I should be looking out for. What do you salon user girls like / dislike in salons? What would make a salon a really fantastic experience for you?

Thanks.

Where they make you feel at ease completely, ie if you have to remove clothing they leave the room with clear instructions on what to do, like 'if you remove your top, necklace and place here and position your self on the bed with this towl over your bottom half.. type of thing.

Also they do not make you feel like you have completely wasted their time if you do not buy anything after your treatment

Thanks leoleo - that's really useful - very clear instructions.

They won't be trying to sell me anything so I won't be able to judge that, but you are right - I must get someone else to test that out for me.

how lovely! I am of you. enjoy

leoleo · 13/03/2008 17:42

ooo yes just thought - I dislike it when they chat too much esp if you are trying to relax. I am normally a chatter box but in a salon i like to be quiet and dift away with my thoughts

nice cosy blanket to lie under whilst having your facial or wahtever

  • my fave salon has very luxurious blankets - i went to a different one a couple of weeks ago and i got a towel! i was horrified
fluffy robes and towels dim lighting the heating on carefully chosen music a chat with the therapist before of what they are going to do and what your skin type is etc water to drink - my fave salon has water with cucumber in it! its delicious friendly approachable therapist who doesnt try to force you to buy the products, but will help you if you are interested in purchasing somewhere to hang your bag/coat/top and jewellery etc

Make sure they walk out with you when you go to pay. Its more professional also do they answer any questions clearly offer helpful suggestions. I went to a very nice salon where they asked about my general health on a pre treatment questionnaire. Then did me a little recommendation sheet when I left but as leoleo says there was no pressure to buy.
