12 year old lip waxing

My 12 year old DD has decided she wants to do something about the dark hair on her upper lip. A friend of hers waxes so she'd like to try that.

Any recommendations for at-home waxing products? And tips to reduce discomfort as much as possible?

I've never done any hair removal on upper lip so am a bit clueless.

Could you go to a salon and it would be quicker and easier. My eleven year old has a monobrow so I take her to a salon and they sort it and she loves it. I'd say she'll want her upper lip doing soon as well. She has a glorious head of thick dark hair but unfortunately I'd say she will also have thick dark body hair

I’d be inclined to take her to a professional for threading. Improperly done waxing can result in ingrown hairs and red bumps (speaking from personal experience 🤦🏻‍♀️).

Just for the upper lip it shouldn’t be too expensive and the esthetician should be able to advise on aftercare to keep the skin healthy!

Ok thanks very much. Will look into a salon/ threading.

At that age I would get one of these

Use IPL instead, it's painless and works best on dark hair with light skin.

I think it's important to tell our daughters they shouldn't have to endure pain for the sake of their looks.

I bought an IPL for myself and it says 18yrs+, otherwise I would have let her use it.

To be fair, DD has always been admirably proud of her Mediterranean heritage and hair, and I've always supported that. Not at all interested in shaving legs etc. She knows she doesn't have to suffer, but also knows her own mind. I am just happy that she's come to me and feels able to have an open conversation now she has come to this conclusion.

@Jewelspun that looks interesting but does the Flawless lead to stubbly regrowth if you don't use it often enough?

No stubbly growth at all. I use on my nether regions, under arms and on legs for in between shaving with a razor.

Thanks @Jewelspun 🙏
