Anyone ditched getting nails done?

Thought about stopping the manicures.
Love nice nails but don't particularly like getting them done.

Never! Can’t bear my short stumpy hands and nice nails just make them so much nicer.
Have switched from acrylics to BIAB though and loving them. Much quicker to get done and cheaper!

I get very occasional pedicures but have always found the idea of regular gels expensive. I used to paint mine at home but my nails chip so easily. Took a break and few months ago and use oils/hand creams /strengthener and shape them myself and they're lovely and natural now.
My point is you might be surprised at how nice your nails are when you stop.

A vote for stickers here! I use Glaize. They are easy to use, cheaper than a manicure and more eco-friendly than gels. I've never had manicures because I don't have time but I just do these myself in the evening in 10mins and they last 2 weeks.

I have glaize ones but the occasional one or two curve up at the end, does that at all happen with you please?

I wish it wouldn't but hmmm

@App13 I think I know what you mean. I find the ends can get a bit caught after a week or so. I usually just trim or file them off and then it's back to normal. Not sure if that's what you mean though?

I stopped getting gel manicures a year or so ago. They look good for a week or so but the second third week with regrowth always looks a bit crap and I think my now healthy natural nails look good 100% of the time rather than grow which looks good only 50% of the time. It saves a lot of time and energy as well. I just look after my nails really well and use clear polish, they are long and strong and I get compliments on them now.

I used to get either acrylics or gels (or both!) and was a hardcore mani addict 😆
I stopped during lockdown and started doing my own weekly manicure, and I’ve never gone back. I don’t do gels, just normal polish, and I’ve got much better at it with practice. Takes me 30 minutes on a Sunday evening. Low cost. No faffing.

I still go to a salon for pedicures, though, as I really enjoy them. Manicures were just tedious.

@ChilliPB

With the gel stickers I'm hoping to change them weekly. Or swop out individual ones.

Used to have gels pretty religiously and I just don't bother anymore. It's such a faff, if they break they need maintenance, taking them off took forever. Now I just keep my natural nails short and buff them occasionally, I find it very freeing 😁. If I was going to go back I would use the semi-cured wraps/stickers but the thought of buffing, soaking, poking and more buffing isn't appealing
