Is microblading worth it?

Keen to save time in the mornings. Is microblading is worth it?

It seems to give a strong, very symmetrical brow arch that I’m worried might not suit me. But I’m not sure I’m getting the best shape with pencil/powder. Any tips?

I had it done and yes it was worth it.
It lasted 2 years and I would 100% have it done again but I can’t afford it at the moment.

I’ve got really thin flat brows and microblading was worth every penny. It’s been about 3 years now as I’ve had other priorities to spend on but they’re still ok looking for no make up days and give me a nice guide to powder on days I put a bit make up on. Just make sure you have a good look at portfolios and pick the right artist that suits your style.

Yes. I had single needle micropigmentation nearly 7 years ago

User8743 · 30/11/2023 18:23

Exactly what @s4usagefingers said. Take the time to do the research, because there are plenty of horror stories and regrets.

Is single needle micropigmentation the technique that gives you more of a “powdered brow” look? I’m keen on that as it has a less harsh outline…

I’m not sure the pigment would stay on my oily skin so it could all prove a costly mistake…

No, not for me. I went to a very carefully researched and award winning studio and had a fab experience. Unfortunately - despite super careful aftercare, it just didn’t ‘stick’. Top up and then a subsequent deeper and more painful (free) fix by the same studio also didn’t stay in my skin. Total cost was approx £450.

I’ve got some patchy colour underneath my natural brow hair but all hair strokes and extra brow depth disappeared. I have reasonably T-zone combination type skin, not excessively oily.

Couple of pics of mine
It's nowhere near as harsh as powder or micro blading

DD is wanting this too but I have no idea on where/who to research. Any pointers gratefully received.

@witchypaws your brows look fantastic

Jewelspun · 01/12/2023 17:12

I've seen a lot of horror stories on Facebook where it's faded to blue or ginger.

A safer and cheaper option is to once a month use a clean mascara wand or a cotton Bud and apply men's beard dye. The dye picks up all the minute hairs and your eyebrows look full.

This sounds exactly like my experience! Very experienced lady, super pleased with the initial results but they faded so much even after two top ups. I spent almost £500. I am left with a shape I can work with but I'm still drawing on my brows every day and I feel hugely disappointed.
In my case I think it was probably down to the fact that I sweat quite a lot and I think my skin just couldn't hold on to the pigment,
So just be aware that even if you do your research and find someone who is really good, it still might not be successful l

I had it done but wouldn't again. My lady was also well recommended and seemed professional.
However she gave me a price but on the day announced you have to get a top up a few weeks later (at more cost) which irritated me as I'd rather be told the full cost before I've started. Not the additional but essential cost when it's too late. I felt a bit misled.
I'm usually good with pain but didn't like the sensation of this at all.
I followed the aftercare but mine was fading in a year and went an unnatural grey. I have oily skin though.
I have very sparse eyebrows unfortunately so I'd like to have been really happy with this but I wouldn't again.
Love the pics of the single needle micropigmentation though - looks fantastic.

witchypaws · 01/12/2023 20:17

They were more defined when I first had them done and you could see the hair strokes but TBH I'm not cross about how they've faded. Quite like how they look still

LadyBird1973 · 02/12/2023 09:52

I had my first session 6 weeks ago and it's been fab - scared the hell out of me at first because it looked so thick, but it's settled to a really good shape and colour. Got top up appointment in 2 weeks and really excited to get it done.
Mine cost £275 and the lady who does mine splits the cost into two, so you don't have to pay the lot upfront.

LadyBird1973 · 02/12/2023 09:53

Excuse terrible just woken up photo but it shows you the shape
