Dull face. Jones Broad miracle balm. Shall I try it?

Hi! Has anyone tried it? Does it really make your skin look healthy and glowing?

I have dryish skin. Lacks any glow and looks really tired at the moment. Very depressing. Plus blemishes that I'm fighting now with antibiotics.

So this ad keeps popping up. And I was thinking of trying it. Is it sticky? Does it ruin clothes? Does it run down (like Vaseline) and makes you want to wipe your face?

Would you recommend anything else instead? I want to look attractive again

If your skin is feeling and looking dull, try some gentle exfoliating treatments to get rid of the dead skin sitting on the top and making it look flat and grey.

Better to use acids than a scrub, esp if you have blemishes. Try glycolic, salycylic (spelling?), mandelic acid based toners and serums.

Aldi have some great ones that don’t cost a lot, and you don’t need to use them every day - 1-2 times a week will def help!

Nope it's shite

Revolution balm by Revolution is meant to be a dupe I think. I've not tried it, but it's a fraction of the price so won't feel terrible if you hate it!

Yes I bought the revolution one after recommendations on here for about £4. It's just vaseline really, and not much pigment. I would try the revolution one first to see if you like the feel.of it. (I didn't) j think glossier future dew is much better.

Thanks for all your feedback!

What about Charlotte Tilbury magic cream? Looks interesting

I was nearly tempted to by the minis they had in the black Friday sale, but with oily skin I don't think it would suit my skin, I can't even wear a cream blush without it disappearing in a couple of hours.

I hate CT magic cream, it's horribly sticky too.

The best thing for glow is an AHA toner (I like REN but Alpha H is my favourite). A vitamin C serum, a good moisturiser and SPF in the morning. Then cleanse at night (balm cleansers are good for my dryish skin), AHA, and use a good night cream. No cream is going to sort out the issues alone, no matter what wonder claims they're making, but AHA is the closest thing to a miracle I've experienced. My skin looked better immediately

I recommended the wonder glow earlier wouldn't recommend the magic cream

piscofrisco · 30/11/2023 15:25

I have it and I hate it. Sticky like Vaseline and very sparkly-not in a good way. I've used it once. I'll happily send you mine if you want to try it!

learieonthewildmoor · 30/11/2023 15:50

Clinique Light Reflecting primer gives you a lovely glow, is moisturising but doesn’t cause pimples, and is great under powder. Lovely on its own, also.
bareMinerals complexion rescue is also great for a nice glow.

happyasaseagullstealingchips · 30/11/2023 15:54

I love it too. Also love the foundation. So many bad reviews but it works better for me than many. I usually get mine through Liberty Beauty Box points.

LadyEloise1 · 30/11/2023 15:58

I bought Bobbi Brown's Miracle Balm which is the precursor to her latest make up brand Jones Road Miracle Balm.
It was quite sticky and I disliked the smell.

MalcolmTuckersSwearBox · 30/11/2023 16:03

Seconding the 'glittery vaseline' posts. It's a rip off. Avoid.

OhGoOnThenIfYouInsist · 30/11/2023 16:03

I've just ordered a small tester of Rosy Glow on Ebay
Fingers crossed it makes me look a little less 'death warmed up' and a bit more 'alive and just about kicking'

bryceQ · 30/11/2023 16:06

if you hate the feel of Vaseline, you will hate this. I think these kind of products only enhance if you already have good skin. Focus on the things you can affect sleep diet, ways to manage your stress. Then focus on consistent and good skin care routine

floofbag · 30/11/2023 16:18

Nooo it's awful

On the upside they gave me a refund !

BlueRabbitWasNaughty · 30/11/2023 17:00

I've just bought 'Elf Halo glow liquid filter' as I saw a magazine write up saying it's a radiance booster (and loaded with hydrating ingredients making it perfect for mature skins!).

You can use it mixed with normal foundation or on its own as a sort of highlighter. I don't usually use foundation at all but really like it as it doesn't seem to sit in creases like some do. It definitely gives a glow so if you like a matt finish, it might not be for you.

MotherofWhippets81 · 30/11/2023 17:05

Honestly the Revolution one is much better and about £5 if you want to try something like that.

I agree with skin care I would try an acid exfoliant. Nip and Fab glycolic pads are great and not too severe to start with.

GrumpyMuleFan · 30/11/2023 17:18

I have two and use every day. In fact, have begun to not use foundation as much…. You can wear on its own or on top of foundation. I have a bronze one and rosy one. I think they make me look a bit more lively and healthy! My Mum calls it my perky face. You can buy a mini if you want to try. Or, if in London, see their Liberty concession.

I had mine for a while before I got going.

Lucia574 · 30/11/2023 17:33

The one I have is like glitter mixed in Vaseline. It’s awful. Miracle hour, or something like that.

hobbledyhoy · 30/11/2023 19:03

I have the Revolution dupe and they're pretty good.
They can be a little tacky to the tough when they go on but it's essentially the same thing at fraction of the price, worth trying

LaviniasBigBloomers · 30/11/2023 19:09

I use the bronze one and really love it.

I would avoid all the ones with 'hour' in the name though, the amount of glitter in them is NOT subtle.

dragonbreaths · 30/11/2023 19:15

I use Laura Mercier skin perfecting tinted moisturiser. I really like it. Doesn't settle into lines and looks glowy. Will buy again

Sussurations · 30/11/2023 19:37

I’ve just bought one of the Revolution ones (Natural Nude, I think) because I too keep seeing ads for the Jones Road ones. I really like it - it’s not very pigmented so is easy to slap on, and is a little moist/sticky at first but not for long. Also, it’s not glittery or shimmery at all, just very subtly glowy. I’d like to try other colours but my local Boots only has four out of the range.

ELF Woah Glow is really good as a glowy primer, cheap and has spf30. The Revolution balm goes over it really well.

Avastmehearties · 30/11/2023 19:49

I've been quite unwell for months and had really dull, flat skin because of it. I honestly can't recommend the ordinary soothing and barrier support serum highly enough. You just add it to your usual routine (the bright pink colour won't show up!). My skin just looks and feels a lot more resilient, awake and even. Only about 15 quid too. I got a cheapo jade roller to try so that might be helping too.

NinNinJin · 30/11/2023 19:54

So many great comments! Thank you! I'm glued to my laptop now reading about everything.
That's is my collection so far. Also have some ordinary vitamin C cream but gosh it is itchy.
Need to sort it and see what I can do with it.
