Pixie cut, which are the best styling products?

Dd cut her long hair last week and donated it. She was really keen to get a pixie cut but her hair is very thick and wavy/curly when long, and she struggling to get the look she wants (Mia Farrow in the 60s vibe). It keeps springing up, no matter what she does. She's really upset about it, poor thing.

Any suggestions for products that might work?

I use American Crew root boost powder followed by Ellnette hairspray. Manipulator by Bed Head (can get in Asda and B & M) is also good. I’ve used wax in the past, but find the powder gives a better hold.

I’ve recently started using Arkive Pomade (I got it from Boots) which manages to be good for shine, hold, volume, texture, all the things!

It might be that her hair has too much natural texture to go into that sort of flat style. Try to go with the natural direction far as possible. Also try blow drying straight with a small brush or even straighteners, then use wax for definition.
Next trim, take note of how the stylist dries and finishes the cut.

Great suggestions, thanks so much!

It's definitely a learning curve for her going from long swishy hair to so short. I agree it's probably not the right style for her hair type, I tried to persuade her to go with a short bob, but she had her heart set on the pixie.

We'll try all of these and see what works for her. Thanks again 😊

Ask her to google curly or wavy pixie cuts for some inspiration. I think Audrey Tatou had the most gorgeous style, and her hair is thick and wavy.

There are some good non-symmetrical cuts as well, with one side cut very close and the top and one side left a bit longer.

I can sympathize since I have short wavy hair. When I have ventured into pixie it can get unruly; I keep it a bit longer but still above chin length.

I recently just got an asymmetrical pixie I absolutely love, I have thick wavy hair and the pixie works wonders on it, it needs product to stay voluminous trust me it needs some effort

I have wavy/curly hair and have a pixie cut. I don't need to use any products, but I do stick with no sulphate and no silicone shampoo/conditioner. Even my hairdresser doesn't put anything on my hair when he cuts it - he just washes, cuts, and I walk out. I do comb it straight on top after I wash it - and I hadn't combed my hair in decades - which keeps it from curling at the ends, which I don't like. Then I don't touch it until the next wash. I agree with a pp, Audrey Tautou's pixie was gorgeous.
