Christmas Jumper Day -7th December - a plea to buy pre loved if you can

I’ve not got one from last year to wear and don’t want to buy new so if I do take part it will be pre loved and then donated back. If anyone is in a similar boat then consider buying second hand and re-donating when it’s had it’s day.

Good for you. You wear what you want and if others want to buy a new one, they will.

I have a red and white scandinavian style one I have had for about 10 years that I wear 😅It is more a winter jumper than Xmas jumper so actually gets a good amount of wear each year!

Great idea OP. Our school ran a great Christmas jumper exchange a few years back which raised a bit of money and saved a lot of waste. The jumper I got from that lasted two years and I'm hoping they do the exchange again so I can pass it on. Exchanges aren't so good for the older kids as they tend to be smaller sizes but I found a minecrafty one on Vinted which DS has been begging to wear since October. Now if only I could find myself a nice pair of Christmassy running leggings for myself...

I've got my 3 year old a lovely one from a charity shop (I was donating last year's one as it's too small) for €2 I was made up unfortunately nothing for 6 year old but I'll look again before I buy new though he has seen one he likes & I have mine from last year, cosy hoodie type one which I love so that will be on rotation for the next few years 😁

ErnestCelendine · 29/11/2023 09:04

Just got the kids' ones out. DS's came from the m&Co closing down sale and will fit a couple of years before being passed on. Dd's came from a Facebook selling group and will go back on there next year.

I need a new-to-me one but local charity shops awash with them, so shouldn't be too hard. If I don't see one I like, I just won't bother with one.

We often just add a brooch or sew on a decoration of some sort to an ordinary jumper. I have never bought a separate Christmas Jumper though I have bought the odd one for the kids.

Bought one of these (all profits go to the Screwfix foundation & Macmillan Cancer). Handy for outdoor gardening not just for one day of the year.

Not sure if there is a Gregg's bakery themed one?

My local charity shop had an entire rack of them so people are definitely donating!

I have a Joules Christmas jumper from a charity shop which has now done me for about 3 years. Previous to that I bought a lovely one from GAP which I'd hoped would last for years but shrank badly after the first wash. Sadly I think retailers assume they'll only be worn once and use cheap material🙄

Our local waste saver group on Facebook has a Christmas jumper/outfit exchange going on and the uniform exchange (which is outside one of the main shops in the village so anyone can access) has a rack of jumpers at the moment as well
