What trainers do you find most comfortable? Need cushioning and can't be flat

I've got crap feet - I need cushioning and some elevation. I love Nike Air Max's but I wondered if people had another trainer they loved. But one that was also stylish...

I think you'll either get one or the other. Take a look at proper running shoes and get your gait tested at somewhere like runners need. They will be a lot more cushioned. I have some saucony ones which are like walking on a cloud.

I have to buy trainers/shoes where I can take the insole out so that I can put insoles in that help my pronation, arch support and need a deep heel cup, so for me its less about the actual shoe and more about whether I can fit insoles in them

That's actually really good advice, thanks

I got told by a podiatrist to buy ASICS running shoes. I wear goretex ones in winter and lighter weight ones in summer. I buy a standard orthotic to go in them too. The key thing is that if you put your hands around the heel, where it joins your ankle, and squeeze there should be no give. Therefore your ankle remains totally upright and is not leaning to either left or right. (I find this is in the more expensive ASICS but I get them in outlet stores). The orthotic stops your foot rolling in on itself. The two together improve my posture and gait so much. I had a really serious injury nearly ten years ago and didn’t think I’d ever be able to walk again but manage 10/15 k steps as long as I have the right footwear.

I would go to a podiatrist or a running shop with a treadmill/gait analysis as what's comfy for you depends on your specific issue eg under/over probation, whether you need a rocker sole, arch support etc. once you know the issue then you can research all the trainers that fit that need. Game changer for me!
