Which skin treatment/procedure is there as a Christmas present for adult daughter with history of acne

Hello all
Just hoping for some ideas, DD who is 29 has said she'd like some kind of treatment or something for her face which is clear of acne right now (she's had numerous rounds of Roaccutane over the years), and she'd like something to improve the appearance of here skin (which I think looks fine but she disagrees).

She is not someone who wears make-up and nor would she entertain any kind of filler etc.

Any ideas please? Budget about £200
TY

I'd be looking at something like radio frequency which is good for skin cell turnover or if she has a little bit of acne scarring still then perhaps a peel?
She could also have light therapy - it's usually combined with a facial - something like a hydra facial.

Where do you live? I know she won't entertain fillers but the best place to go to get something really good is a proper independent skin clinic which you could find via the tweakments guide, and then see what skin treatments they do. I would have loved that when I had adult acne at that age.

oh thank you @hermioneee we live in SE Kent and I know a very reputable skin clinic in Canterbury but I can't remember what it's called right now.

She mentioned a peel of some sort but I didn't know there are other treatments as well. This is a good start 😊

A course of micro needling? I had this done and it really improved the texture of my skin and acne scarring so could be the type of thing she’s thinking.

@Youmeandacupoftea how much was that treatment if you don't mind me asking?
I had a look on the website of the clinic last night and prices for RF start at 350 😯

The clinic is excellent though, run bt two consultant dermatologists and has good CQC rating.
Yikes though!

When did she last have isotretinoin?

TheNoOneChristmasFairy · 29/11/2023 06:43

My DD has recently finished a course of roaccutane, sorry if you know this already but the advice is not to have anything done within at least six months, including things like eyebrow waxing.

I love this idea though. Her skin currently looks lovely to me, but like your DD, she can see flaws and focuses on them.

FeargalLandSharkey · 29/11/2023 07:19

I'm not sure but probably last year @flowerygloves . I didn't realise it was a factor tbh.
She also uses sun beds (I wish she wouldn't but its her decision) . I completely get why she focuses on what she doesn't like but she's had about 4 courses of roaccutane since she first had it as a very young adolescent after everything else didn't work.
The clinic works by consultation and then a plan so maybe I just ought to decide what I can afford and give her that rather than try and second guess. She has savings so if I can't afford the her ideal scenario she can contribute?

Hi @FeargalLandSharkey mine was only £60 per session with an independent therapist who does it from home so I appreciate this is very cheap as I’ve seen it much more expensive than that.
Maybe give your daughter an amount of money and say it’s to be used on a treatment and she can choose one and contribute towards it if necessary.
