Hairdressers - How long an appointment time are you given at yours?

I got an appointment for a haircut at small local hair salon, got the first appointment of the day and I saw it is only for half an hour.
I want a bit of a restyle (see pob post) and not sure this will be a long enough time and I don't want it rushed. Just wondered what the "norm" is.
Feel like cancelling.

If I have a wash, cut and blow dry then I can guarantee I will be there for a least 40 minutes or more. My DD's hair cut took longer than 30 minutes. When I have my hair highlighted as well I am there for 3 hours!

I thought it would be at least 40mins, although I do know that she does "wet cuts", ie she just sprays the hair rather than shampooing, so I suppose that cuts time.

my hairdresser does one hour appointments for cut and blow drys. i always get a really good cut there. most other hairdressers i have used in past only book 40 min appointments for the same.

thanks ja9. I hate going to the hairdressers as it is . Don't know whether to cancel and go somewhere else

maybe they will be quiet in the morning and not have anyone in after you? are you sure it was just 30mins? perhaps that's for the cut and then someone else will dry your hair?... although probably not if it's just small local place...

oh, tricky one...

no, i'd cancel and ask for recommendations off folks whose hair you like!

45 minutes for me (I think), 30 minutes for DH.

Flier · 13/03/2008 21:23

ja9, I know there's someone else booked in for 9.30, and its a one-hairdresser salon.

By the time the next appointment come in and has there hair washed you will have been in the chair for more like 45 mins.

Bookings are doen often to overlap, this allows for lateness of clients as well as hair washing and coat faffing - so I wouldn't worry about her not giving you enough time for a restyle.

Did you mention a re-style? You did mention this didn't you? You have talked to the cutter about your hair and what you want with dry hair?

Flier · 14/03/2008 09:51

thanks ivkaty44, but can't see that happening, as its a very small, one person salon, ie no juniors to wash hair.
