Highlights too golden, any ideas?

My natural hair colour is mousey brown. The highlights have come out too golden and I need to cool them down. What's the best thing to try? I wasn't sure about purple shampoo as they're not actually very light, they're just too warm for me.

You can pick up a Jerome Russell silver toner in Tesco, home bargains and most high street chemists for about £4. Should take the brassiness out. Works for me when I'm over due for my colour appointment.

Whenever I have highlights they go too warm and I use Maytrix brass off blue shampoo and conditioner. It makes them look lovely and cool again.

Yeah blue toned shampoo or conditioner

Dear God don't use Bleach London temp dye - I had to style out the office with bright blue highlights and now it's faded to a rather unattractive khaki. Thought I would get more bang for my buck - sadly was rather too much.

Then bought glaze cocoa gloss to try and help and it's doing nothing at all! The Wella glosses are good though - not sure if they do an ashy one but that's what you need

Thanks for the ideas! I was able to get my mitts on some of the Bleach London shampoo (this was before I saw your post @Phunkychicken , very much hoping it doesn't go blue).

No Jerome Russell or Matrix in my local shop, but noted for if the Bleach London doesn't work.

If you had them done at a salon, go back?

anon2134 · 24/11/2023 19:37

It's not light enough for these things to work enough. Go back and ask for them to be done lighter.

I did it myself on a bit of a whim, so I can only complain to myself. Grin

Oh

Go to a hairdresser and get it fixed?
