I think this skirt is lovely. Would wear with black tights and heels but what top?

They look like bricks with straps on. They are not party shoes in any shape or form.

Agree to disagree on that. I have these shoes / bricks and often wear them to parties and actually to a wedding quite recently (and a mini dress) I looked great (even though I say so myself) Horses for courses and all that… anyway I do appreciate they’re not for everyone.

Thank you. I like flats but think i need a heel for this outfit/my legs. I was thinking a plain black heeled court or maybe block heel? Unfortunately I've owned neither since 2005 so suggestions appreciated! Won't spend too much on them.

I'm also wondering what denier tights as I know more sheer than opaque is in. I've only ever worn opaque tho.

for shoes, I’d go something quite plain so the lace detail and velvet of the skirt is the star. Something like:

Ideally, you need elegant not clumpy. The sock boots are cute and the dot detail on tights suggested adds a nice touch.

Well, the skirt arrived and it is absolutely beautiful to look at and feel but dreadful on me! Loads of material at the front, just not the right cut for me. Oh well. I'm keeping the lovely green silk shirt I got.

While I have you, I got some loafers which are pretty loose, tho in the right size.. would you downsize a half size or use insoles? When I have sports socks on they're fine for example but of course I won't be wearing socks with them.
