Help me revamp myself

I am 55 5ft1 size 16. I am also disabled so I can't do much about the size I am.

I've saved up and have £500 to spend on myself. Could push it to £1000.

My style is 60 something bag lady with a side of cripple, so there's a lot to work on.

I have proper bras that fit, because I've done the fitting thing at Bravissimo, and I have make up.

I wear a lot of trousers and tops but they're too big, I used to be a lot fatter and I haven't bought new clothes for a long time.

Shoes have to be super wide and flat can't do heels.

Boots need to accommodate super enormous calves.

TIA for anything you come up with for me.

John Lewis do a free 2 hour personal shopper consultation if there's in you could get to? No obligation to buy anything. Good luck!

Thanks @GinBooksChocs ! I did wonder about them but I am so used to being size 24 and nowhere having clothes to fit me I sort of forgot they'll have size 16 stuff.

I have terrible huge, wide feet, and big calves, so I am watching with interest!

Just wanted to say you sound brilliant op, "My style is 60 something bag lady with a side of cripple, so there's a lot to work on. Really made me laugh .

I hope you get great suggestions and find some lovely new things

This is me, not you, so maybe not very useful. If I was updating my wardrobe now I would be looking at jeans, cords, and nice knitwear. Some good trainers and a pair of flat boots, and a lovely coat.

You don’t say what your disability is (why would you?) but if you are a wheelchair user then you maybe don’t want things with structured waistbands?

I’m a different size but recently bought some really nice cords from Hush which are very slouchy and comfy. I like Levi’s for jeans because they do a “half size” rather than just 10, 12, 14 etc - I usually need an 11 - and my favourite for knitwear is Arket.

I don’t do heels or fancy footwear and am a trainers fan with small, very wide feet. I find Adidas trainers fit me well and as a size 4 can usually get cheaper kids’ sizes.

PP’s suggestion of a JL session is good, and I love Depop for bargains (I know a lot of people love Vinted but I find it fiddly with the different fees.)

Who do you admire? Regardless of their size.
