Where to get budget snow boots?

I'm off on a winter visit to Poland and I'm looking for the sort of insulated boots I had in the late 80s designed to keep your feet warm in -10°C temps. Just plain very very insulated things. Bit like ski boots maybe? Not that I have ever been skiing.
Where do you get them these days?
I had a quick Google but it just threw up fake fur lined quilted lace up ankle boots #sadface.

Feel free to tell me you can't get them now for reasons...

cyclamenqueen · 19/11/2023 18:16

Was just coming on to say Mountain Warehouse !

CyberCritical · 19/11/2023 18:16

Decathlon or keep an eye out for Aldi/Lidl ski weeks

Mamette · 19/11/2023 18:16

Lidl has them sometimes.

CyberCritical · 19/11/2023 18:17

Just checked and Aldi ski supplies went into stores on Thursday so if you have one near you it's worth a look.

Octavia64 · 19/11/2023 18:19

Aldi have ski supplies in store now. I saw snow boots.

Paperbagsaremine · 19/11/2023 18:20

I have an Aldi literally a mile away! Will try that, thanks!

I've had a pair of the gelert ones for 8yrs, and they have just started to split. I wore them at various ski resorts, and every winter as my dog walking boots. I've never had an issue with my feet being cold.

You can spend a small fortune, or you can buy some Dunlop Blizzard wellies for about £35.(Amazon). Super thermal fleece lined, waterproof, and pack quite small. Also have a decent insole for support for longer walks. I love mine 3 years on.

I got some in a charity shop for £3. They were brand new and unworn. Worth a look in your local charity shops, OP

Yes THESE are the sort of thing I'm after!
The Aldi ones you showed in the earlier post are what I see everywhere and aren't what I'm looking for.
Balls, if that's what Aldi are selling I guess I've just saved myself a short journey.....

Usually lots of snow boots on eBay. Often only worn for a week on a ski holiday.

Paperbagsaremine · 19/11/2023 20:46

To be clear I'm after the nylon insulated knee high MOON BOOT styles ones.

No laces.
No fur lining.
Not ankle boots.

Does nobody sell these any more? It's ok to tell me yes, you won't see my bitter tears. Best to face the truth eh?

OP- Can I ask why you want 80's style moon boots, over a modern style snow boot? Moon boots tended to be made from fairly thin foam, and IMO, often weren't that warm and eventually got wet and soaked through! Maybe modern styles with better and more water resilient though- if this is really the look you want.

Because I wore them to continental Europe in the depths of winter, in dry very very cold but dry conditions and they were GREAT and that's where I'm going to wear them.

I won't be wearing them anywhere the temperature goes anywhere near as warm as zero! Like the UK. I've got plenty of kit for the UK.

You don't need hideous 80s boots to have warm feet in sub zero temps. I wore my furry modem lace up boots dog sledging in Norway in the depths of winter and my feet were toasty.
