Where can I get trendy slippers for DH? Or will they always be slightly Grandad?

DH is by no means a style guru, but he has so far drawn the line at slippers. And I have to admit that I do find them a bit of a turn-off myself.

However, a new hallway carpet has forced a decision of dirt containment over style, and I am hoping to catch him unawares with a more trendy looking pair! Do they exist?

Does your OH wear slippers, and are they too cool for school? If so, please point me in the right direction...

I think these look ok, great price too

My friend has just started a new business selling groovy men's slippers. www.homeys.biz

PatsyCline · 12/03/2008 11:00

Fatface do a good range of flip-flop type shoes which might fit the bill.

They also do 'proper' slippers called Sherpa which manage to be warm and a bit funky. My Dh loves his. They are not on the website, but it might be worth ringing your nearest Fat Face if that's more what you are after - they definitely sold them this winter.

Tickle · 12/03/2008 11:03

Haflingers are lovely, if expensive 'indoor shoes'. google them

binkleandflip · 12/03/2008 11:04

Definately holisitc silk!!

They are uber-chi chi and therapeutic to boot

spicemonster · 12/03/2008 11:05

They are so grandadish they're cool, Disenchanted

Spicemonster, your friend's site is cool, but I have to say that my DH wouldn't be seen dead in a pair of those slippers. They'd look fine on a 20-year-old, worn in an 'ironic' way, but not on my slightly knackered DH.

binkleandflip · 12/03/2008 11:06

Take a look at the mens - bought my BIL some (he's on his feet all day) and he swears by them!!

Whats next? 18 year old lads in chequered flat caps, pipes and boarder collies as accesories?! lol

Oh, just remembered that the slippers I have are fab and pertty damn groovy - made by an Austrian company called Giesswein.

Mine are boiled wool but I found these lambskin ones on line reduced from £45 (yes, they really are that expensive) to £12.99. Only in a 12 I think.

binkleandflip · 12/03/2008 11:19

Mine are definately best so far IMVHO

spicemonster · 12/03/2008 11:22

those are a bit hippy binkle and not warm!

I have austrian boiled wool ones. They rock and are toasty

the great slipper debate of 2008

binkleandflip · 12/03/2008 11:23

NO they ARE warm!! They are kinda sued-y!

spicemonster · 12/03/2008 11:25

I bet they're not as warm as my boiled wool ones.

binkleandflip · 12/03/2008 11:27

Well yeah but...but...they massage your feet (as long as you're not using a defibrilator)

So what more do you want??

PatsyCline · 12/03/2008 12:42

I'm with Spicemonster on this one. Nothing is better than boiled wool Austrian slippers - mine rock.
