Could I wear this to get married in? I'm getting married abroad though so I don't know if I will regret not having a strapless style dress.

We are going for a low key micro wedding with nice meal after. Just a few guests if they can make it. If not just us and our children.

Strapless dresses suit very few people, and that dress is gorgeous.

BrownTableMat · 17/11/2023 11:20

It’s gorgeous. Go for it!

Elastica23 · 17/11/2023 11:20

Gorgeous! Definitely.

MrsMarzetti · 17/11/2023 11:28

Your day, your choice. The dress is lovely by the way.

Sahara123 · 17/11/2023 11:59

That is really beautiful! Much nice than a strapless dress xx

I love it and have had my eye on it for a summer wedding I'm invited to next year (no clash with bridesmaids or the mothers' colours)

A lot of people would find wearing white to a wedding to be a bit weird, if not downright rude.

The dress looks pale blue to me, but agreed, it is too close to white for a guest.

Jellycats4life · 17/11/2023 12:30

People on MN are so weird about wedding guest dresses. So they can’t be white, or indeed any pale colour that might be mistaken for white if you squint? So no pale blue, pale pink, pale yellow, light mint green, pale lilac, pale peach…? 😅

@storminwayagain Theres nothing wrong with that dress, especially as you’ve already checked that the bridesmaids etc won’t be in pale blue.

Milknosugarta · 17/11/2023 12:36

It's fabulous. Wear it and congrats!

TerrysNeapolitan · 17/11/2023 12:46

Love this a def yes. Cloud dress. Very dreamy. Perfect.

The popularity of strapless wedding dresses is mystifying, given they really only suit the small-breasted and thin-shouldered.

That’s a lovely dress, OP.

Why do women want a strapless wedding dress when it will mean wearing the most uncomfortable bra ever all day.?

If it’s blue, I’m sure that’s fine.

I’m more in the “wear what you want and feel comfortable in” camp, (for the bride as well as everyone else) but no one wants to cause an upset at a wedding.

I’m not at all funny about colours for wedding guests. But some people are (not just on MN, also IRL!) and wedding guests should take that on board.

housethatbuiltme · 17/11/2023 13:00

You can wear anything you want to get married in.

If you are asking do I like the dress... yes its pretty.

headcheffer · 17/11/2023 13:00

Gosh absolutely! It's beautiful! Have a great day and congrats!

I just feel like there are so, so many colours out there. I wouldn't wear a dress that photographs as white to a wedding.

Is this that awful stripy dress debate again where some people randomly see white?

Because the dress OP posted is dusty blue with gold details.

Houseplanter · 17/11/2023 13:06

Beautiful. And a couple of similar for you too ..

Generally a seamstress will sew cups into a wedding dress, so no bra required. Not that I'm a fan of strapless dresses regardless.

FlibbedyFlobbedyFloo · 17/11/2023 13:15

It's gorgeous. Have a wonderful day!

DuchessOfSausage · 17/11/2023 13:25

@Possimpible , sewn in cups are not supportive enough for a lot of women.
A strapless dress will need a good strapless bra or basque underneath.

Possimpible · 17/11/2023 13:32

@DuchessOfSausage Appreciate that, but they are supportive enough for a lot of women, so my point stands. I have a reasonable chest and sewn in cups are fine. I agree with both yourself and the poster you quoted that the popularity of strapless dresses is a mystery as they are often the least comfortable and least flattering option.

PrettyMuchUseless · 17/11/2023 13:44

I had forgotten I had even posted this! Ha! It's been a hectic morning with my DS doing SALT and tidying up after. I'm so pleased the dress is a hit. I've tried big proper wedding dresses and they are stunning. But completely impractical and expensive. I keep looking at this and I love it. I'm off to buy 😍
