Mid 50's post menopause, very dry skin and hair. Help!

My skin used to be fine with any old moisturiser - now it seems so thirsty. I use hyaluronic acid then a moisturiser and it's absorbed within seconds and my skin still feels taught and dry. What can I do?

Also my once thick hair is thinning alarmingly - no scalp visible yet but every time I wash my hair (twice per week) I am shedding. Hair is also dry and frizzy

I'm okay with ageing but I'm 55 not 75?Sad

Advice appreciated

I have/had your issues with skin and hair. I'm taking the Hair, Skin and Nails supplements from H&B, and I swear my hair has doubled in volume - you need to take them for a while though. I also take a high strength omega capsule twice a day and that has reduced the itchy dry skin.

I did have highlights for a few years which pretty much ruined by hair and had covid a couple of times - don't know if that had anything to do with it.

Thanks I'll look at the hair, skin and nails supplement.

I use coconut oil on my skin and on my hair, it's brilliant. I also take folic acid and vitamin D supplements (Vit D during the winter only) and that has helped.

I get a kera straight every six months which stops the dryness and frizz.

I had this and a blood test revealed my iron and ferritin levels were low. A long course of iron tablets stopped the hair shedding and then hrt helped maintain it.

Best solution is HRT

BingBongDingDong · 16/11/2023 18:42

I had the same, and HRT resolved it.
