Hi,

So I'm in the process of switching up my look a bit, as my old make up and clothes just aren't working for me in the same way anymore.

Anyway, it's taken a bit of a toll on my bank balance, as I'm doing quite a bit of impulse/desperate buying 😬

I popped into Superdrug to browse the make up last night, without much hope tbh, as I tend to go for mid to high end brands when it comes to make up, but had a bit of free time on my hands.

Was looking for a new lipstick that was ideally matte, but not drying and a nudey colour that didn't wash me out, as I seem to need more colour these days. Thanks Peri! 🙄

I found this gem! Loreal Volume Matte lipstick in shade 640. It's gorgeous! It's a similar texture to the Powder Kiss lipstick, by Mac, but it's more pigmented and I would say more hydrating.

So what are your surprise beauty hits and misses? 🙂

Hit:

  • Benefit Roller Curl mascara. Never clumps, gives me a nice curl without using curlers (which I hate) and lasts all day. I even love the retro black and pink packaging.
  • La Roche Posay spf50 tinted fluid - sinks in beautifully, gives a dewy effect and protects my skin

Miss:

  • “September” brand night cream that made me break out
  • any dry shampoo I’ve tried. Always makes my hair look dusty

Hit: Erborian CC cream, absolutely love and use it daily. Looks like my skin but better and perfect shade for me in clair.
CT is getting a bashing on here but I love the pillow talk lip liner! It's a daily staple also and the shade works great.
Clinique black honey, love this a lot! Love it paired with the pillow talk lip liner all over then this on top. Just wish it was longer lasting..

Miss: IT cosmetics CC cream, hated this so much, was so orange and it broke me out! Annoyed that I didn't buy a sample to try out first as it's expensive.

Hits: Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm in Red Dahlia is a dupe for Clinique's Black Honey, but lasts way longer and feels nicer on; also Rose shade from the same range is a lovely nude-but-better shade.

Miss: NARS Powermatte lipstick - had assumed it would be a good long-lasting matte but it slid off after a few drinks :(

@jurassictart thanks for the tip! Already in my basket to try out Grin

HIT: Huda Beauty Creme Blush in Rebel Red.

MISS: Erborian CC cream. Starts perfect, then goes orange on me. Glad I bought the small size!

Yes @dullandgrey ! I just got a refund for mine, as the shade was nothing like pictured. Orange, as you say. Not nice.
