Do you feel lucky - designer bags

Hi
I don’t know if I’m posting in the right place but I wanted others views and thoughts how they feel about this stuff.

Little backstory is I have a few designer bags really enjoyed getting them etc I sometimes go out without a bag if not needed etc . Anyway as you do see a few obvious fakes around I’ve never thought too much of it until now.

The other day we saw a woman with a fake LV scarf and as I passed noticed her carrying a very obvious fake LV bag , it had gold writing on in the style of Michael kors.
My partner told me yes it’s a fake I have been trying to teach him how to spot a fake anyway he said to me something along the lines of your lucky you have the real things. Also someone else has commented in the past that I’m
so lucky to have these things .
Do I feel lucky ? I’m not sure I do , it made me think. I feel lucky on a couple of bags which are now discontinued and I absolutely love but a normal LV tote eg neverfull , I’m glad I saved up and got the real thing but I don’t think I feel lucky .

Has anyone else had this feeling? I don’t mind people having fakes it makes them happy and for whatever reason they can’t get the genuine one.
For reference every luxury item I have which isn’t many (under 10 bags) I saved up for and paid for myself with the exception of putting birthday money towards it etc.

Just wondering if anyone else feels this way and why do you think it is etc .

Thanks

I do feel lucky in a general, global context that I can afford what I can. So I suppose if I could afford designer bags I would feel lucky.

i’m not really a designer bag person, but I do like some posh/expensive things and when I see someone who can afford them, yes I do think they’re lucky. Even if they saved up and bought them, you’re still on the fortunate end of the scale if you can! Not that I don’t recognise the hard work and saving - and I think it’s ok to buy fancy bags if you like them and have the money - but I’d feel lucky definitely.

I feel lucky in the fact that I was able to afford and buy the designer bags that I did when I did.

Having said that I sold some recently. And am not buying more!

I don’t feel lucky… however, I do feel fortunate to be able to afford them.

Yes, this. It conjures up images of the pair if you regularly sneering at others, people-watching to see who has the fakes and pass commentary on them. Unless he regularly buys you bags from dubious sources I can’t think why you would need to teach him that.

Indeed.

Your boyfriend is confusing lucky with fortunate or privileged. It wasn't good luck that you have purchased those bags, it was hard earned money that you spent and you are fortunate and privileged to be in the position to do so.

I feel lucky when everyone I love is happy and healthy.

I like the handbags/ clothes/ jewellery/ cars I have and am grateful. I’m pleased that if I was invited to a ‘posh do’ tomorrow I could open my wardrobe and choose something to wear easily. I’m sometimes embarrassed that if someone compliments a thing I’m wearing it’s often an expensive piece (if it’s not I’m delighted to say, for example ‘£30 Marks and Spencer’, but few people want to hear, ££££ McQueen!)

But none of the things compare to going to bed at night and not worrying about those I love. I’ve had that, and am so grateful not to have it now. I’d have sold all my ‘stuff’ at the time if it would have helped.

Anyone who has enough money to lead a life where they they buy what they want (within reason) is fortunate. A lot of people work just as hard and will never be in a position where they can spend hundreds of pounds on a handbag (or other non essential luxury item).

Life isn't as simple as the people who work the hardest, get the most rewards or earn the most money - so many people work really hard without ever getting more than the basics
