Diptyque (or any) solid perfumes

Hello!

Does anyone have a Diptyque solid perfume? How well does it last, and, crucially, how do you apply it? If with a finger, do you not just end up with a very fragrant finger??

I absolutely love Orpheon but I find that the top notes fade quite fast on me, and sometimes for me, spraying a perfume is too strong, so I was hoping a solid perfume would mean I could apply it to the strength that I like.

Thank you!

Bump, just in case!

A quick Google tells me Jo Malone and Lush do them. Perhaps you could ask about them in store. They might have testers.

I have it in a couple of different fragrances , I use a finger to apply it . It does last reasonably well but the scent is very slightly different to the spray, like any scent with a different formulation.
My feeling is that is probably varies from scent to scent, as some notes do work better in an oily base.

I have the glossier one and a diptyque one! They last a really long time on me I also prefer to use them in work (rather than spray around the place!) I do end up with one finger that's slightly fragrant but I tend to use hand sanitizer often enough that it doesn't last long.

I have two different ones from Diptyque (34 and eau capital) and I love them - always carry one in my bag. They last for ages and I think because a bit waxy it doesn't stay on your finger but transfers nicely to where you put it. They also do refills for the ceramic thing so it's not a very expensive way of wearing something nice

Sorry for jumping on your thread OP but are any of these relatively gentle smelling?

Thanks in advance.

@ChangeUsername123

I find the glossier one the softest and most subtle, but then it doesn't last quite as long!

I have the diptyque one in a rose smell (think it was a limited edition) and love it. Great sillage. Prefer the subtle news of this to the spray perfume (which I also have). Would recommend!!

@ChangeUsername123 - that's quite a difficult question! It's not so 'in your face' as a great big spray of scent. I've never tried the glossier one but will next time I'm in Covent Garden. Maybe you could try them somewhere? Hope you find one you like!

What sort of perfumes do you like usually ?

ChangeUsername123 · 15/11/2023 23:25

I’m a bit odd because I’ve become really sensitive to smells over the years so a lot of what I used to like are too much for me now. Originally I liked things like the classique Jean Paul Gaultier. I did also enjoy wearing YSL Parisienne for a while too but that’s been discontinued. This was why I’m hoping that a solid one might be better.

Arpeggiator · 16/11/2023 07:52

@Waferbiscuit good to know, thank you!
@ChangeUsername123 I am similar, I love perfume but I actually find sprays a bit too much and can get a headache. I love the comforting or refreshing sniff of my wrist throughout the day, or a whiff of a beautiful scent on my coats and jumpers, so I want to keep wearing it somehow!

I have a couple Jo Malone solid scents and really like them. I keep them in my handbag for work and the commute - much easier and less anti-social to put a little smear of solid perfume behind each ear or a dot on your wrist than spray a big cloud of scent. I find the smell of the solid scent lasts well but remains quite localised to the spot where you apply it, as you might expect I guess.
