Dyson Airwrap vs Shark Flexstyle?

I’ve been wanting a Dyson airwrap for a while now and have been thinking about treating myself in the Black Friday sale. I’ve noticed that the Shark Flexstyle looks pretty much identical for half the price so now I’m wondering if I should go for that instead! Is it really as good? I’m always a bit dubious about influencer review videos so any real life experiences/thoughts about either would be much appreciated!

Have you ever used someone else’s Airwrap? My experience of both is that they were good hairdryers but the curls just didn’t hold at all. I think it depends a bit on your hair type. I ended up selling my Flexstyle and buying a nice hairdryer!

I bought the Airwrap after listing after it for so long. For actually drying hair it's great, it dries my hair so quickly and feels so much better than my ancient hair dryer. The paddle brush head makes my hair lovely and straight and sleek.

I am used to using the Revlon one step and can't dry my hair with a round brush and hairdryer (I have tried, I end up a tangled mess) so the Airwrap is great for this.

Curling my hair takes AGES however, I need to use mousse, curl, brush through and then re-curl, then pin the curl. This makes the curls more long lasting but the first day of curling, quite frankly I look ridiculous. The second day, sometimes I will achieve the lose wave I want and other times it will look crap. I rarely do it because a) it takes so long to do and b) its a risk taking that much time to style my hair that may end up looking crap.

If you go for the Airwrap I would recommend buying from either Dyson directly or QVC as they let you try it for a certain time and then return it if it's not for you. Although I wanted it mainly for the curls, the drying and how easy it was to style my hair straight is what made me keep it.

I had exactly the same dilemma and ended up going for the Shark. For the price I paid, I am happy. As PP have said (and is widely reviewed), it is really hard to get curls to last. I have never managed to curl my hair with GHDs but this effortlessly gets the curl. Problem is they fall out quickly leaving wavy/tousled hair. I will play around a bit more with products at some point but I am happy with the wavy result. Everything I have read about the Dyson is the same for curls

It does dry my hair very quickly and the round/straight brushes are brilliant for getting an effortless straight but bouncy blowdry.

Had I spend £400+ on the Dyson and curls did not last, I would be returning for a refund. But for under £200, the Shark is great even if not perfect
