This kind of trouser

What is it with this current type of trouser fit that people like? It is the first time in living memory that I've seen stuff looking worse on a model than it should.. There is a lot of this about online, often very expensive, but I don't see it much in real life.

I love the idea of baggier trousers and the quality impresses me, but something seems off. I don't think we all ought to dress to flatter either, but if you like these can you tell me why? I love a less fitted silhouette but there's just so much fabric.
I would be utterly lost in them if they are this sacklike on a tall model. My crotch could hide a thousand ferrets down there.

Is it intentional, the bad fit? I am sure these highly respected brands could easily design a more impressive bum/hip area so what gives?

I also don't think this is a 'masculine' style as men never look this terrible in loose, cord trousers, there is always good detail and fit/design at the waist and crotch.

It forces you to either wear a very wide top to hide the waist or tuck in to reveal it. Anything else would sit lumpily at the hip area over this much fabric.

Wow those are hideous! I like the baggy jeans look with a cropped too on a slim tones physique (sadly I don't have one) but these look like worzel gummidge just took them off!

And they're in the hundreds!
There is a really odd take on silhouette currently, and I SHOULD like it - but it seems to deliberately destroy any body type.
A high waist can look beautiful, but this style has more of a brick-like shape, and looks really badly designed, whether worn with a loose top or a tucked in tighter one.
If the idea is to cover the pelvis with a shirt or jumper, then why not at the very least make the crotch area less lumpy and blockish?
