Long lasting lip balm

As above can anyone recommend me a (basic) long lasting lip balm.

I'm currently a SAHM and just use vaseline for a slight shine and moisturizer and probably put it on about every half hour or so. I can't stand having bare lips it feels horrible but also I'm not into coloured lipstick etc

But soon I'm going to be starting a volunteer placement so I won't be able to apply it as often so I need something that lasts a couple of hours.

So fairly simple/basic, ideally no colour but something that gives the same effect as vaseline
Thanks

Lanolips do a lip treatment called LemonAid which is good if you want a bit of shine.

Nuxe Reve de Miel honey lip balm - pot not stick!

It's not shiny but it is long lasting and moisturising

Blistex Intensive Moisturiser. It actually moisturises unlike vaseline which just sits on your lips.

Try using an actual moisturiser like the Nuxe suggested or anything that is natural oil based rather than an occlusive barrier like Vaseline. After the moisturiser apply the occlusive barrier to trap the moisturiser. Vaseline and other occlusive don't moisturise. They help lips by preventing moisture loss so hydrating first then applying the occlusive can really work much better

Thanks so much everyone will take a look at the things recommended.

What do other people do at work or similar? If I'm just at the gym or something without any makeup on then bare lips is fine but when I've got makeup on I always feel if I've got bare lips it looks really odd like I haven't finished my makeup. I don't know 🤔

Elizabeth Arden 8hr cream lip balm. Nothing else comes close.

I either use it on it's own or I fill my lips with a lip pencil and use it over the top.

I’ve stopped using all lip balms. I became addicted - as in the lips needed the reapplication every half an hour and would feel awful if I didn’t or if I forgot to take some out with me. I do put a bit of moisturising lipstick or lip gloss on from time to time but lips don’t seem to need this.

Another vote for the Nuxe in a pot. I only apply it morning and evening with my skincare and I never have dry lips.

I’ve just finished my pot so am using up an Elizabeth Arden 8 hour stick and my lips are dry and cracked. Have ordered another Nuxe pot on next day delivery!

Carmex is fab and very reasonable. Vaseline is the worse for wearing off.

O’Keefe’s lip repair! Came across it when I had covid and my lips where really dry.

It stays put after eating and drinking far longer than anything I’ve used before. And it’s on offer at the moment :)

A lip oil might suit you. Clear lip gloss works with make up, gives your lips a finished look.

I think I had to go cold turkey! Eventually- I weaned myself off by cutting down at first. Basically I read the lip balm stops your own lips producing moisture. Especially the Vaseline ones.

I do use a moisturising lip stick or gloss from time to time but it’s no bother if I go out for the day without anything. Before I had to have lip balm with me at all times!

Update....thanks all. I went with lanolin balm as a base which feels really moisturising and plumpy then a Barry m lip oil on top for some shine, looks fairly natural, lasts a couple of hours so I'm really pleased!

Vaseline is the worst thing you can put on your lips. It's a barrier not a moisturiser so doesn't get absorbed but your lips get addicted to it so you compound the problem.

Interested to know how you stopped as I'm in the same situation.

i just stopped using all lip balms. Especially Vaseline ones. I’d pop a bit of lipstick on and try not to reapply too frequently. You want your lips to start producing their own moisture again. It can be a bit uncomfortable at first but you push through. It was years ago so I can’t remember exactly but I remember being completely addicted to the point I couldn’t leave the house without lip balm.

Only time I use is occasionally on holiday or when skiing and lips do need something. But not a Vaseline one more a sun cream type one.
