Does anyone use castor oil

I did look for previous posts, but was surprised to not find any.

I have seen a huge amount of talk on TikTok and the likes of people using castor oil, for both facial oil and also massaging some into the navel for health benefits.

I do take a fair amount of TT hype with a pinch of salt as the influencers promoting it are also sellers, so I wanted to ask if anyone here has seen any benefits.

I was more interested in the massaging into navel as I do suffer with ibs, but reading up on the medical side of it, many medical sites state that the claims for great health (reducing tumours, ovarian cysts etc.) that there are no scientific facts that this works.
But then it is a naturopathic remedy, so not sure there would be that many scientific test results.

There are claims that scans prior to starting to using scans showed ovarian cysts, and then 6 months later another scan revealed much reduced cysts and they are giving the oil the credit. But imo cyst do reduce in time anyway.

Also, people are putting it onto their eyelids to help their poor sight.

Anyone using it who can tell me a bit more about how it has/hasn't helped you.

That's ayurvedic medicine. Lots of indians do it especially to babies. Relaxes the nerves. Some people say it's good for dry skin especially lips. You can massage for constipation

Castor oil is also good for hair growth. I massage a little into my roots- have to wash off after an hour or two or I get a pounding headache. That said, my hair is longer than it has ever been in my life. Also you can put it on eyelashes and eyebrows- I don’t because the thought of that funky stuff going in my eyes is too offputting. Apparently it is the base for eyelash serums.

Castor oil is bloody awful if ingested- it’s supposed to induce labour but gives appalling cramps and diarrhoea too. I did try it on my belly button a few times- no difference?

Yarrow is the latest cure cancer internet trend I am trying 😅. Bit of yarrow tea in the mornings. The jury is still out on that one!

@Aurasauras some comments did say to start out slow as it can cause flu like symptoms. Apparently drawing toxins out? Maybe that is why you get a headache? But I am a bit skeptical about this too.

I would not even dare to try putting it on my eyelashes, as the thought of it going into my eye does scare me, but then I do have those super sensitive react to anything type eyes.

I think I will get some and give it a try when I am blessed with another bout of ibs-c. Strangely enough I was diagnosed years ago, and never once has any medically trained person suggested the oil for constipation.

I don't know about yarrow tea, but I have some in my cupboard for some strange reason, its is blended with marshmallow root or somesuch. I probably bought it when it was on markdown, as I cannot think why else I have it in 😀

I really not convinced that rubbing oil on your eyelids can improve your eyesight though.

@Highlighta good luck. You can’t be too careful with your eyes so start low amounts of your stomach. I would always research the actual science behind it too (remember there are lots of trends in TikTok that result in terrible outcomes) so have a google of reputable articles about it, just to put your mind at rest.
