I'm going to a party this weekend and have bought myself some serious stacks. They look stunning but they're farkin' agony.

How on earth do I get them wearable by the weekend?

Have been doing the washing up / irning in them whilst wearing skiing socks, but I cna't bear to do more than 30 mins of that at a time.

Main area of pain is in the bunion-to-be location. Then slightly lesser degrees of agony around the toes, culminating in the oiminous threat of ball-of-foot-burn (no chance of fitting those party soles in I'm afraid.

You suffer for the sake of beauty I'm afraid - and maybe take along those pumps that can fold up and fit into a small bag for when you can't stand it (literally) any longer .

what about some blister plasters for the bunion-to-be location? My Mum once had a spray which you was supposed to help shoes stretch but no idea whether it worked or whether you can even still get it. I find the balls of my feet hurt more when I've got rough skin on them. Perhaps buy some foot lotion and soften them up if you have any hard skin. Otherwise, can't suggest anything other than wearing them in the house for as long as you can manage it and agree with moonshine re taking something else to put on later in the evening. Hope you find some solution.

my friend has this www.sportsshoes.com/product/COM14/compeed-anti-blister-stick and she absolutly swears by it. Failing that aren't you supposed to stuff them with newspaper and freeze them or something?!?!?!

flowerybeanbag · 10/03/2008 18:15

Apparently wearing them with wet socks for a bit helps, plus this from Boots which I always use, it's fab, may be similar to sweetheart's link which I haven't looked at.

flowery - doesn't that stuff leave grease marks on the leather.

At the risk of hijacking my own thread I've still heard nothing back from my mate re. the nursery!

When I worked for a shoe compnay we used to rub hair wax intot he back of the shoe, on the heel.
Only leather ones though.
It really softened them.

Also vaseline.

sherby · 10/03/2008 18:32

strech them with a vice

goingfor3 · 10/03/2008 18:35

Could you sleep in them?

Mhamai · 10/03/2008 18:38

Stuff them with wet newspaper.

For the heel area, rub a dessert spoon side to side on the inside to stretch and mould the heel a bit.

pennies no worries about your mate, whenever you're ready

And no, never had marks on shoes with that stuff
