Discreet thermals?! Do they exist?

I'm freezing and many of my clothes have lower necklines or short sleeves and for several reasons (financial, weight loss, work) I need to make them last through the winter. Is there such a thing as discreet thermal underwear? Low neckline but warm?! Help me stay warm!

Uniqlo heat tech range. The scoop neck long sleeved ones are really low neck and that do vests too.

M&S and John Lewis do these too

After years of reading about Uniqlo on here, I finally cracked and got one of the long-sleeved scoop necks.

I'm now a convert.Halloween Grin

A very toasty convert.

Agree Uniqlo are the only ones with a low enough neck to wear under most things - other thermal tops have higher and narrower necks so you can see it poking out at the sides of the neckline even under some crew neck jumpers which drives me mad - who wants that? Basically you can only wear them under a polo neck!

Uniglo!! I also got their thermal shorts , very thin but do work!

I wear silk vests and cashmere knitwear.

When it’s really cold, a snood, kidney warmer and wrist warmers to plug the gaps helps

I find a pure wool shawl is much warmer than a thermal vest. I have a few heatagen vests which are okay, but nothing like as warm as a shawl. I find cardigans cumbersome, and jumper arms irritating, although I quite like tank tops... not very fashionable though!

Bella di Notte merino vests. They do lots of styles but I have the low neck ones. Not cheap but they last years.

Tanks are in, I got a gorgeous one from the cashmere company

I also have silk v neck vests from Patra. Great if you are sensitive to merino wool next to the skin.

GonnaGetGoingReturns · 02/11/2023 14:06

Definitely the Uniqlo heat tech or M&S thermal one, sometimes if I’m matching tops to jumpers I ensure I have the correct colour or a nude one.

I’m sitting here in my Damart thermolactyl. Grade three cami . Very thin straps but a warm body, it goes under anything. Warmth without bulk.

Mumaway · 02/11/2023 14:14

John Lewis silk thermal vests. Love them.

lindyloo57 · 02/11/2023 16:41

M&s now do a strappy thermal vest you could try it in a larger size so it fits lower in the front.

I agree on the shawl, but can I recommend Yak wool? Those Yaks are the worlds experts on warm wool 😀
