Removing wash out hair dye

Do I have to just wait it out?
I put a bright pink on my balayage. The Live colour drops if anyone is familiar with them? It’s been a couple of months and the colour hasn’t washed out! I’ve tried dandruff shampoo and a bar of soap. Going to try baking soda today. (Online tips!)
I bought hair dye remover but at home noticed it’s only for permanent hair dye.
Does anyone have a tried and tested method? Going on holiday in a couple of days, would like it gone. It’s just dull

Fairy platinum washing up liquid. But you NEED to do a hair mask/deep conditioning treatment after rinsing.

I coloured my hair cobalt blue a few years ago and it wasn't fading after 6 months, my hairdresser suggested trying it. It took 3 washes but before I put the deep conditioning mask on my hair it felt awful, dry, stringy, knotty. The mask helped add moisture back into my hair.

I suggest the same with the baking soda, even if you put your normal conditioner on your hair and leave it for 10 minutes, it'll help against any damage risk from the baking soda.

I find the live colours aren't ever washout/semi permanent, they stick around.

Also I read on here mixing coconut oil and honey and applying that for 20 mins/half hour is a more gentle way to lift colour.

Any anti dandruff shampoo.

vita C tablets about 20-30 depending on hair length, blitz to a smooth powder (food processor or crush in a bag ) mix with ant dandruff shampoo.
I was a bit “well that was rubbish” when I tried but the following day my magenta hair was back to brown. I’d use a semi permanent dye

Condition it well after

Anti dandruff

ants don’t suffer dandruff as far as I’m aware

Neverinamonthofsundays · 25/10/2023 11:44

Head and shoulders.

THANK YOU for all the tips!! I’ll try em today

with the vitamin c tablets do you need to mix with anything?

I had the same issue two evenings ago OP! I bought Vosene anti dandruff shampoo, and it was stripping so much colour. I had a mild panic in the shower.

I have another few washes to do, but it removed heaps of the colour. I find it strips colour far better than Head and Shoulders, which I would have used before..

Peachyscream · 25/10/2023 12:53

Right that’s Vosene on the shopping list too!
Currently have a top knot with baking soda paste on my hair. Tied in a carrier bag. Trying to pack.

Once they’ve been powdered mix to a paste with your chosen anti dandruff shampoo. It is better to blitz in a food processor rather than crushing.

id used a semi permanent dye that made my hair purple with horrible pink bits where the grey hairs had grabbed colour. Normal washing didn
t fade it . Isn’t that always the way ? A colour you love will fade too quickly . One you hate hangs on in there .

Then conditioner/mask to moisturise

Peachyscream · 25/10/2023 15:09

@70isaLimitNotaTarget
thanks! I’ll try that tmrw. Yes that is ALWAYS what happens unfortunately🙄

Also, the baking soda didn’t do anything apart from dry my hair out ☹️

Head & shoulders, two latherings. Then cover hair in oil, any sort, cooking oil will do, plastic bag on head, warm under hairdryer for 15 minutes, then double wash with head & shoulders again.

Last year we died my sons hair blue for a show he was in. It said 6-8 washes and it was in the Easter holidays, so I thought it would be fine. But no! 20 washes later and it was still fairly blue. My hairdresser recommended mixing a tablespoon of bicarbonate of soda into head & shoulders and that was the most effective in getting the colour out. But be sure to use deep conditioner after as it really dried his hair out. Took 2 shampoos a day for a fortnight for it to be completely back to normal!

I watched a video explaining why these wash in, wash out colours don’t always come out of processed hair. I think he said because of the porosity it basically stains the heir permanently.
