Picked up a BNWT top in the local charity shop today, blue and white fine check (DD says it looks like chef's clothes), loose and baggy, one size, perfect holiday top. Brand is "Cut Loose" which I have never heard of. Felt nice quality.

Got it home and spotted the price on the original tag. £108. 😯It's sort of like this but cotton and a different print. Very pleased!

Got a dress for my daughter for €6 recently. Never heard of the brand,Middle Daughter, looked them up. Their dresses go for about €200! For a child's dress.

Last weekend I got some Kin leather trainers, BNWT, for £3. They are £79 on the John Lewis website currently. I couldn't believe it.

Sadly though i am short and fat so it made me look like a button mushroom.

Grin Fabulous description !

I loved this phrase too!

Very jealous of these bargains. Our charity shops are full of stuff from New Look that is probably selling for more than original price.

Genuine Manolo Blahnik's for €26. I always presumed they were fake at that price and was surprised when they weren't!

Wow that’s fantastic! I sometimes find nice old books in ours but wouldn’t know how to begin selling them never mind getting the value right 😳. Do you use a particular website to sell? Any help appreciated!!

Helenlovescats · 25/10/2023 18:31

Sorry that book one was to @LovelyGreenCushions !! Forgot to add that x

I got a brand new Reiss (sp?) dress for £10 a few years ago. The actual price tag still hanging inside said £120.

I also bought 2 enormous aircraft prints signed by the artist and Bomber Harris, complete with oak frames for 20 quid each. Got them valued at £950 each. I still have them.

DawnBreaks · 25/10/2023 18:43

This Seasalt raincoat for a fiver, great condition and still on their site for £150. Not massively fashionable but its totally waterproof and has been worn often lately!

My find of the decade was a jumper. Paid £3.50 for it, looked at the brand on line and they retail at £600 and used ones sell for £200

I sold them on ebay
The £1000 one will be sold when my dad dies-he reads it and as I said he knew the author as a child. Only 100 copies were made and all for friends- I think he is trying to work out whose copy it was- it has an inscription and signature of the author
I imagine it will go to a specialist auction

Had a few 'bargains', a Salvatore Ferragamo pair of black suede platform shoes, bought for £15 and were still on the website for £775 and not only fit, but incredibly comfortable. The tiny gold band had come away, but a pair of jewellery pliers fixed that! A Burberrys (pre 1999 and made in England) coat, brand new for £10. Two pairs of men's trousers, Italian, as good as if not new, and perfect fit for DH and when I googled the make, they were £350 each and a brand definitely not on any high street I shop in. A brand new pair of navy leather ballet pumps from Russell and Bromley, for £10, and still on their website to this day, in different colours for £175. I also consider a bargain finding a make that no longer exists, but the fit, style and quality of the item, as well as me loving it, makes it something just as valuable to my wardrobe.

debbrianna · 25/10/2023 19:13

£10 skirt with a tag no price. I googled and it was around £300 as every similar skirt on the website was the same.

£7 bag, another not-so-known brand. I googled it, and it was a £2k bag. Everyone compliments it.

Generally, I think I have good eyes for things. Usually, it is not about the name but how the quality looks. Materials and possible longevity.

debbrianna · 25/10/2023 19:16

Ohh! Another dress from 2 weeks ago. It looked brand new or not overly used. I got home and the tag was still on. Similar vibe to Uniglo, but all written in Japanese.

Helenlovescats · 25/10/2023 19:18

My luckiest find was a Brora woven blanket for £7.50! I absolutely love it and it is used every day but no way could I ever have afforded it new.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 25/10/2023 19:23

Loake brogues - exactly my size, unworn, £30, should have been £275. I wear brogues a lot.,

Kenwood Chef with all the accessories (liquidiser, ice cream maker etc). £20, the week before lockdown. It made a lot of cakes that spring!
