My New Resting Bitch Face

At 45, I am quietly smug about my skin, with trial and error with skincare it’s plump, dewy, very little pigmentation and fine lines visible mainly when smiling.

But the whole thing is rapidly moving south, the jowls, the folds around the nose, outer corners of already deep set eyes. No symptoms of peri. Healthy weight.

Will I ever accept this new bulldog expression that makes me look old and miserable and wipes out the option of black turtlenecks?

Any point putting up any kind expensive risky fight? If not, how can I make it look better?

You have to be realistic, no cosmetic is going to fight gravity. Caci facials can give a temporary lift but it's a costly maintenance cycle that only works so long as you continue them. If you'd ever consider a (partial) face lift down the line I'd go sooner rather than later as you'll get more longevity out of the procedure when you get in early.

Try thinking about it this way. I’m a lot older than you. I recently caught sight of myself in a shop window, and just for a second, I thought it was my granny, who died many years ago. When I was a small child, I thought she was incredibly glamorous; despite the lines on her face, she had soft skin, a great figure and lovely eyes. I’m now the age she was then - if I look like her, then I have grown up to look like the woman I wanted to be when I was a kid. I can live with that.

Youre in the transition phase where the loss of collagen is becoming visible (even though clinically youve been losing it for ten years or more). This is what I do in support of my 'scaffolding'...with good results - although I know eventually I will have to make the call about a more invasive treatment....

Diet - cut down on the liquor; eat for your skin - salmon, nuts, avocado etc etc. Supplement with liquid marine collagen. Avoid swings in your weight - if you put it on and then lose, your skin wont have the elasticity to snap back. If youre menopausal - HRT - the difference low dose HRT has made to my skin is remarkable.

External - Posture and exercise - keep moving. Try not to constantly tuck your chin in and be looking down - think UP - smile, dont get stuck in resting bitch face with a downturned mouth, shoulders back, boobs out, straight back and shoulders, chin up - this really, really helps jawline and neck, Try face yoga and see if it works for you!

Facials and skin treatments - youve already got the skincare sorted, but on the treatemnt front, its probably time to upgrade from regular facials to a skin clinic that does medical grade facials incorporating microneedling, mesotherapy, etc.

Its fun and it does work....it wont forever, but you can still look amazing and stave off the intense stuff for a while longer :)

Going through the same and I have just decided to live with it. I am a healthy weight too.

Yeah gravity is inevitable up to you whether you want to embrace it or not. You have great skin and fine lines which show that you smile and laugh. If the sagging is really bothering you I wouldn't jump straight into a face lift, maybe you could try pdo threads as these are temporary and dissolve over time. Really good for lifting the cheeks and jawline minimising nasolabial folds and jowling
