Greasy hair and greasy skin?!

Hi everyone

I used to wash my hair twice a week, since having 5 month old DD, it's greasy after 1 day 😭 it's quite long, past my shoulder blades, thick, naturally wavy and I'm brunette. I have it trimmed and a colour every 12 weeks.

I've tried all the usuals, head & shoulders, apple shampoos, tea tree, herbal essences and some more expensive shampoos such as L'Oréal professional.

DH gave me £250 to treat myself from some extra work that he did. I've also got really greasy skin since having DD and large pores around my nose.

I looked on LookFantastic and need to buy a shampoo & conditioner that could stop my hair being greasy so quick and also some new skincare products (The Ordinary doesn't seem to work that great on me any longer, neither does CeraVe).

Any recommendations? Bonus points for anyone who can recommend any tips/tricks to also stop my hair falling out! Post partum hair loss is no joke!

I'm also very oily (hair and skin) and haven't found anything that totally gets rid of it, but some things are better than others. I've always been super oily so have probably tried most oily skin/hair products on the market!

The two best shampoos for my hair are Rehab and Seanik, both by Lush. My hair feels squeaky clean after and I can usually get 2 days out of my hair if I use these. I'm not a Lush fangirl usually (I think their skincare is fine but nothing special) but their shampoos have been great for me.

Seanik is a shampoo bar which I wasn't 100% sold on, but I tried it out in a moment of desperation and it's actually pretty decent. You get a good lather with it, which was my main concern.

Shampooing twice helps, as does getting a scalp brush or similar to give your scalp a good scrub in the shower.

Do you blow dry your hair? Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs here but from your post it sounds like oily hair isn't something you're used to. If I don't blow dry my hair (just a rough dry to get the hair up off the scalp) I kid you not, it starts to feel/smell/look oily by the time it's dried naturally. Just a quick 2 minute blast with my head upside down to dry the roots/scalp is enough to make a difference for me.

In terms of skin products, I've had a good experience with any moisturiser that claims to be mattifying from French brands - in particular Eucerin DermoPurifyer, Avene Clearance and La Roche Posay Effalcar Mat. I find that cleansers generally don't make much difference in terms of oiliness so I wouldn't bother spending much money on them as long as they do the job!

Please let me know if you ever find anything to sort out the large pores problem as I'm stumped! I can mask it with makeup etc. but I think in my skin's natural state my pores are here to stay.

Iron supplement for post partum hair loss even if borderline normal levels, a maintenance dose can help. Eat more protein too at this time.
I am the greasiest person ever 30 years of trying everything here. Shampoo tresemme deep cleansing or Indola cleansing shampoo are the only ones which actually get rid of the grease. Look for cleansing shampoos. (If blonde the loreal silver shampoo is good also).
For pores and oily skin only tretinoin skincare works for me (skin and me subscription) but you cannot if breastfeeding. Avene face wash is also great and avene cleanance expert or cleanance comedomed. Cerave dose nothing for me.
Pantothenic acid and vitamin A (in cod liver capsule) are known to reduce oil.
I am trying nacetylcycteine supplement atm too early to comment on this yet.

Also, sounds really simple but I’d recommend washing your hair brush! That helps for me

Blow drying my hair stops it getting greasy

Same for me. If I fry my hair thoroughly (instead of a quick blast and "it'll do" ) then it lasts much longer without being chip pan greasy
