I’m always struck by how helpful and nice everyone is on this board (‘frumpiness’ arguments notwithstanding). What’s been the best thing you’ve learned?

What's the difference between Babyliss Big Hair
and Revlon One Step?

StarlightLady · 26/10/2023 12:24

That I am going to face a firing squad for having regular Holywood waxes.

Well, I bought a pack of those Wirarpa pants on the back of this thread. I recognised them as soon as I opened the pack - I bought some many years ago. A quick check of my Amazon orders showed it was in 2018...

I remember them as ill fitting and very unstretchy, the horizontal seam across the front was irritating and I binned them.

BUT this lot are thick and soft and very, VERY comfortable! The material is that same thickish knitted cotton that they use for mens trunks and y-fronts, a proper solid cotton knit. The sort that has never otherwise been used for a woman's pant.

I am still happy with my vintage M&S which are truly everlasting but haven't been made for the last 10 years, and I am also happy with my John Lewis 5 pack full briefs that are almost as old although still sold, but if you want pants that give you a bit of a cozy hug these Wirarpa are really, really nice.

Thank you S&B, I will buy more!

Ha, I recommended those Wirapa pants and an irate poster said her own granny would not be caught dead in them, or words to that effect. That told me.

Oh dear, what about my regular Brazilian waxes? Will I have to die too?!

StarlightLady · 26/10/2023 16:21

@Coffeepot72 At least we’ll be together.

To never shop at Asda but instead buy from joannieGrin

Who would have thunk it!

Basic but soap 🧼 instead of shower gel. I feel so much cleaner. I have a bit of an addiction now though and can't pass TK Max 😂

Liberty Beauty Drop.

Dermatica! It's been amazing on my sun spots.

@Shiremum40 😮 do you have a link to the specific product you've found great please?

SpringMeadows · 26/10/2023 17:09

Which product?

Why revlon over babyliss?

Lastarse · 26/10/2023 23:26

Uniqlo heat tech vests, I got the long sleeved one and a vest top. 2nd year and going strong ! Love how they feel and look forward to putting them on - just the right level of ‘warm’ and super thin. I also like lots of expensive things advocated here but I won’t admit to buying them…

WhatWillIWear · 26/10/2023 23:35

Ah … Go on!

Thank you, I will look!

@Saggypants thats my experience of Bravissimo too. Which means I’ve basicallt just been reordering the same size and style of bra for several years (Goddard). Problem is my boobs have changed size and shape after two pregnancies and things aren’t fitting the same any more…

Hi, I did BOB a couple of weeks ago and point blank didn't believe the result.

I'd been wearing 36C in M&S and BOB said 32E!

So I popped into Bravissimo to try some on, I was in first thing so I had a fitting with them too and was really impressed.

The range was good and the two I bought were really comfy, although one felt right at first compared to the old loose bra I'd been wearing.

But since confirming my size I've picked up more, pretty cheaply, from places like Brastop.

My boobs being big enough to shop in Bravisimmo came as a surprise!

CatMattress · 27/10/2023 11:09

There's a fab FB group for BoB which can help with fit checks and style guides for diff shaped boobs.

And I have been searching for some girl boxers that fitted a set of specific criteria and will be ordering some of those Wirarpa ones. They look awesome! Thank you.

I tried The Ordinary retinol for sun spots, but it just seems to have made it worse. Need to have another look at the S&B suggestions for this. I do love the Factor 50 products from Ultra Violette I bought on rec from S&B - they smell amazing, great texture and have kept me (and my red headed DD) safe all summer

That my preferred style makes me look like I live in "Glastonbury Town, sell essential oils, Harry potter , frumpy, a woman in her 60s on a cruise, an older music teacher" and has a "safe" neckline and hemlength.

WhatWillIWear · 27/10/2023 12:17

Was that helpful, revelatory, shocking, hilarious, or … what, @lamalamalamasquirrel?

Was this the Sosander thread? It was a bit brutal.

No, it was a monsoon dress I wanted to know if it was suitable for a christmas party.

Saggypants · 27/10/2023 15:37

Vitamin C for sun spots and any kind of pigmentation/discolouration!

I use tret but my giant joined up freckles were long gone before I started, thanks to vit C serum.
