Fur stoles

Yay or nay? What to do with them?
I have two. One is a whiteish colour and the other one is a fawn. Both inherited. I can’t think of any occasion in my life (work/dog walk/gym) where I may wear them, but I don’t want to get rid of them. They smell a bit and have lived in the attic for the last 15 years.
Your thoughts.

I'd give them a decent burial. It's the least you can do to honour their unnecessary and probably incredibly painful death 😭

We actually did this when we found one clearing out my grandmothers house.

@Iwantmyoldnameback
it's the only decent thing to do Flowers

We used my gran's from the 1950s to line a bed for an ill little rescue dog my sister fostered. He loved it.

Can you find a rescue center that might use it?

If in good condition maybe find people on social media that do historical costumes for UK films/series and sound them out to see if there's any interest? I see the argument for repurposing so at least it's useful. But can't fault those who might choose burial instead.

Agree conditions on fur farms are miserable and the killings are barbaric, have seen videos of foxes who have very poor quality of life, are bred solely for size and thickness/colour of fur so acquire genetic conditions leading to ill health, are kept in tiny cages with no flooring but wire, substandard food, no vet care, handled roughly. They are clearly stressed and unhappy as who wouldn't be.

I have less objection to people who hunt sustainably and for food using all parts of the animal, particularly indigenous people for whom hunting is a traditional lifestyle that has been around for a very long time. If Inuit people for example want to wear skin/fur from hunted animals I have no problem with that as it's a good way to keep warm and dry in very low temperatures and many live in poverty in isolated places, so that any goods flown in like groceries are insanely expensive so hunting and using the whole animal makes so much sense (and fur is biodegradable and not a source of microplastics). Different situation I think.

Sadly too, factory farming seems to be similarly horrible and those of us who eat meat or dairy or wear leather, unless maybe organically sourced, are likely contributing also to very poor treatment of animals. I'm a hypocrite I guess as it's something I try not to think about... it's easier to think 'fur is awful' than to think 'cheese is awful' perhaps.

I'm also baffled at people who eat non-free range chicken, pigs, beef and drink milk from cows who spend their live in a shed who would object to fur.

I would go along the road of a rescue who might use them for bedding?

I wouldn’t wear it but I don’t wear leather or feather
