Hi all,

I normally wear Fitflops round the house but its obviously getting cold now.

Do you have a special pair of house shoes or do you wear slippers?

You will not find a more amazing sturdy slipper. I won't wear anything else now. So reasonable compared to similar sheepskin offerings (I used to have some Uggs and find these more comfy!)

cork shoes!

Geisswein or living kitzbuehel. I like the hut slipper shoe type from them and keeps ankles warm, but they do clog type also

Just wanted to throw this out there as an alternative … I wear these. Unbelievably comfortable. Can pop outside to hang out the washing, can clean them.

they’re also really warm. I think because they’re off the ground and you can wear warm socks with them too if you want. Honestly so comfy and really cheap ! My pair has lasted over a year so far. And I wore them camping all summer 🤣

Another Haflinger fan here! I like the felt Flair Smily. I get home from work, put my slippers on and my feet go 'aaaahh' 😁

Shoe Garden (link up there ☝️) seems to be the main supplier of Haflinger in the UK. (If indeed you are in the UK!)

Just socks or thick socks. If I need to go outside then I'll wear my crocs

I would do this too if I had luxurious thick pile carpets though-out my house, which are immaculately clean.

I have several pairs of slippers for indoors depending on how cold it is. I have a pair of sliders for taking rubbish out and wearing in the garden.

ChishiyaBat · 18/10/2023 21:13

I wear crocs as slippers, i've never worn them outside, but find them lovely around the house, I can wear 2pairs of thick socks with them. If it's really cold I have cheapy fur lined hard bottomed slippers, i'd love some nice expensive warm slippers because my feet are always like blocks of ice, but I can't justify the cost.

Would you mind sharing the brands of slippers you have, you sound like quite the expert in the in-door shoe/slipper world?

Not really an expert but I realised a few years ago when I was ill with flu, that I had nothing to wear when curled up on the sofa so I bought a pair of furry boot ones from Fat Face as my usual mule slippers (also from Fat Face) weren't quite right and didn't keep my feet warm enough. When it's really cold when working from home I wear the boot ones (I actually have 2 pairs). I tend to wear fur lined mule ones most of the time. I have hard floor so I always wear slippers (even in summer), I also get really cold feet. I went away last year and didn't take slippers I was so happy when I saw the ones the hotel supplied, nothing beats slippers after being on your feet all day. For me it's all about having warm feet.

Next do some great ones with a decent non slip sole that last forever.

I have suede slippers with a really good solid rubbery sole and grip on them and faux fur lining. I think they're M&S although Next do similar ones.

Sheepskin slippers boots. They have a hard sole so are fine for nipping out to do the bins etc

Me too and thick socks when it's really cold. My feet are always cold. My DIL bought me Australian 🐑 boots with hard soles four years ago. They're still looking good and have survived a Labrador puppy 😁

R0llonspring · 18/10/2023 22:15

I wear Fit flop felt slippers now / in Autumn:

Sheepskin lined ankle Ugg boots in Winter (strictly indoors only!) So toasty!

And Crocs to nip outside :)

BrandyandGinger · 18/10/2023 22:19

I wear supermarket Ugg-type boots as slippers in winter. Very warm and I can run across to the shed in them if needed. They're comfortable with bulky socks when the weather gets really cold.

Caspianberg · 19/10/2023 06:12

My giessweins are my second pair, first ones lasted about 6 years, and these ones are about 3 years old and as new still.
So a decent pair of slippers are worth it imo, as you shouldn’t be replacing them every year like you might with cheap ones.
I wear mine almost every day, all year around

BrightlyCloudedSky · 19/10/2023 07:04

We have tiled floors throughout so I always have painful, cold feet unless it's the middle of summer. I wear crocs at home, I found I need something with a thick sole, normal slippers didn't cut it. I have a pair of sandals for almost summer. Normal crocs for autumn/spring and fleece lined crocs for winter. I also have a pair for outdoors only by the door in case I need to go outside.
I also invested in decent socks and now have thick woollen ones if I need them.

FayCarew · 19/10/2023 14:45

I wear crocs usually because I can go outside in them, and only wear them in the kitchen. Just socks otherwise. I have slippers and slipper type house-shoes but the crocs are easy.

YeaGads · 19/10/2023 14:51

I wear fleece lined crocs/gardening clogs.

I recently bought a pair of fake kids crocs so VAT free in Aldi, they were £4.99.

GasDrivenNun · 19/10/2023 15:29

Try Fitflop Shuv slippers

DaisyWaldron · 19/10/2023 15:38

I have a pair of Birkenstock Arizona's which are a size too big, so I wear them as slippers with thick socks.

OhDoSitDownAndShutUp · 19/10/2023 21:14

Ballet-style slippers, or fluffy socks.

Mumaway · 19/10/2023 21:23

Felt Birkenstock clogs. Easy to get on and off, reasonably warm and proper soles to go out to the bins etc
