I had my hair curt about a month ago & I hate it - so what should I do now?

Grow it - my hair grows very fast but it was long when I wnated it cut

Cut it very short - it's about 3 inches all over & I am considering maybe 3/4 of an inch

But last time I had that I was very fat (size22) & I looked a bit pinhead-y now I'm only a 14/16 but worry a bit

Something else ?? like this idea but what?

if it were me i would grow it a bit, not long from now it will lo k quite different and you wuold be able to do more with it.
what sort of style is it, colour etc...?

KatyMac · 08/03/2008 11:05

It's curly brown & middle aged tbh

A kind of non-style

There is a photo in my profile if anyone wants a laugh

get it bobbed and coloured, i think. there seems to be length round the back that could go.

Carmenere · 08/03/2008 12:08

Agree with Aitch, get it bobbed and a shiny dark colour and it will look lovely.

KatyMac · 08/03/2008 12:14

Isn't it too curly for a bob?

OP posts:
Maidamess · 08/03/2008 12:19

KatyMac I think you need to grow it to a bob length and see a hairdresser experienced in thick curly hair. It looks to me like it could do with being thinned out a little bit ( I hope you don't think I am being rude, my hair is very thick too and I literally have to get half of the weight taken out when I get it done)

I don' t honestly think 3/4 inch all over will flatter you, and a lovely shiny curly bob will.

Maidamess · 08/03/2008 12:20

like this?

KatyMac · 08/03/2008 12:22

Actually I have had it like that before
Hmm - Good idea I think

It's definatly long enough now - That picture was when it was just cut

Is it a bit 80's tho'?

I think it's a lovely colour as it is, it really suits you. Agree that it perhaps needs layering to take some of the weight out of the top/fringe. I like your "last Easter" style - that with layers and a bit of a fringe would really suit you. Could also see you with a curly bob.

KatyMac · 08/03/2008 12:35

I guess of the 3 photos that is the best

Aitch · 08/03/2008 12:42

80s, or more correctly 1920s if it's done properly. at the moment you're right, it's a 'nothing' style. at least if you chop into it hard you'll indicate to the world that you are still trying...

good specs, btw.

KatyMac · 08/03/2008 12:44

I collect them

I have 6 pairs in lots of colours (how sad)

OP posts:
Aitch · 08/03/2008 13:16

oh if you're a specs freak you need a good haircut, definitely. how old did the hairdresser think you were, fgs? i've had to go in search of a good, experienced OLDER hairdresser, i can't get a good haircut from a younger person any more as my specs (green, cats eye, mikli/starck co-design) mean they want to go wacky on me. whereas i just want the bluntest, darkest, short-fringed best bob it's possible to get.

KatyMac · 08/03/2008 13:31

Not sure now

I think I might ask my friend for help - she used to hairdress (about 20 yrs ago) but gave up- she might help me tho'

I'm watching BBC1 atm & I quite fancy the haircut that the girl has (the widow of the brother) if you know what I mean

satine · 09/03/2008 21:18

Ooh I agree with maidamess. That picture she linked to would look great.
And the 80s styling is bang on; just look at Ashes to Ashes, Alex Drake looks hot hot hot!

KatyMac · 09/03/2008 21:26

It is a nice style but my fringe would never do that

I reckon go to a good reputatable hairdressers such as vidal sassoon ( I go there and it's well worth the bit extra) and go for a mega short do, all ready for the summer with a real funky edge and perhaps buy some new glasses too ? Treat yourself.
