Hi Ladies,

I’m looking to buy my DD some skincare products/ set as a gift. I’d say she has combinations skin, prone to hormonal spots.

As it’s a present, what ‘nice’ brands would you recommend I look at? I know she had some Glossier cleanser. She also uses various brands of micelles walker, plus moisturiser etc.

Is Cruelty Free important to her ?

My DD likes Mario Badescu , they do a Drying Lotion that you dip a cotton bud into and apply to spots overnight (Revolution do a dupe which is good , DD uses both)
Rose spray toner ( miles better than Revolution)

I bought this as a stocking gift and I'll add the drying lotion

The Clarins range for younger skin is lovely, my DD swears by it

SoIinvictus · 15/10/2023 07:49

For the type of skin you describe tbh, she's better off with La Roche Posay Effaclar/CeraVe or any other brand with Salicylic. If you want something special as a present, Clinique, Dermalogica, Paula's Choice all do similar ingredient products but are obviously more expensive.

(Try and get her to ditch the Micellar- it won't be helping)

What’s wrong with miceller water?

Thanks for the tips. I like the look of My Clarins, but they don’t do any gift sets.

arrgh!

Chanel Hydra Beauty is probably one of if not the best skincare ranges out there perfect for that age. Their serum and micro liquid essence are exceptional plus there’s an Eye gel too.

At the opposite end of the budget spectrum The Ordinary Lactic Acid 10% is a fabulous exfoliation product, alternated with their Glycolic toner every other day and her skin will glow all the time.

Plus encourage not smoking/ vaping, using SPF, eating well and not over doing the alcohol.

CinnamonJellyBeans · 16/10/2023 07:32

Remember that if she likes the stuff you buy for her, you will have to commit to paying for this regime in the future, so maybe factor that in.

Bearing this in mind, if I wanted to "treat" a teen to some premium skincare, I'd probably choose one real hero product that I could afford to replace on a regular basis, like Elizabeth Arden 24 hr rescue, Nip fab glycolic/salicylic/the one beginning with "n", which are good for blackhead prevention, some Paula's choice. Something really effective, but out of the average teen's budget that doesn't run put too quickly when she asks for a replacement!

DD2 has similar skin to yours and the neutrogena ranges are pretty good, but I have a feeling that their daytime moisturisers do not contain SPF.

...and there's also the un-present like spot patches that are meant to be excellent, but are pricey.

PawPrintsInMyPansies · 16/10/2023 14:01

@CinnamonJellyBeans i can’t see an Elizabeth Arden 24 hour rescue cream? And what Paula’s Choice would you recommend?

thanks

Sorry, it's 8 hour cream (not 24) and I would probably buy the 2% BHA liquid exfoliant to help prevent blackheads.
