How do I begin to rehab my nails? Pic attached

I've had acrylics for the past 9 years without a break really. My nails are now a bit sore, very thin (have had to remove the ends as they're thinner than paper - no lie) and they're damaged and peeling

So I've decided to bite the bullet and try and rehab them.

But how? And with what? I'm so used to them looking nice and sleek and now they're all stumpy and horrible

I don't have much in the way of lotions and potions but I do have Dior abricot oil and the balm - but do I need some sort of repairer or hardener?

Thanks in advance

I've attached a photo - truly so bad!

Opi nail envy?

I've never had acrylics so not treated my own nails but have been transformative for building my strong natural nails

I started taking a Biotin supplement to try to rescue my thinning hair, I haven’t noticed any difference (yet!) but it’s definitely helped my nails. I had damage from gels which included a ridge on one fingernail that was constantly splitting, and they generally felt weak and brittle.
I didn’t do much research, just went for a cheap supplement from Amazon, it’s called Hair Boost. If you read the reviews quite a few people have mentioned stronger nails.

I’d get a hardner, just a cheap one from Boots will do.

Hey, best way to start is to avoid acrylics. But there's supplements you can buy for skin hair and nails, and also special varnish for nails to protect them and strengthen them. I'm not sure of your price bracket so I won't recommend products, but if you Google nail repair varnish, you'll find repair stuff that might help.

The best products I've ever used for nails is Jessica Phantom Oil. I pop in on before bed just rub into every nail and during the day I use Vaseline hand cream for stronger nails, this combination has also given me great nails and saved them after stopping extensions etc.

Fir time being keep nails neat and short and just concentrate on repairing them

I would leave them without varnish (including hardener etc) so they can breathe and instead massage in a good nail oil like CND several times a day. The Salon Life on instagram is good for advice on strong natural nails.

Thank you all

God I can barely type without my nails and I've no idea why as I don't use them to type! Feel really weird and ham fisted without my nails on but it's gotta be time to try and stop the acrylics. I'm in a 3 week cycle of infills / new sets and I have to try and repair the damage done

I'll give the above tips a try. Starting off with my existing abricot balm and the oil and I've ordered the Jessica stuff

LittleSnowOwl yes that's the one

Agree that any kind of oil massaged in is a good move. I prefer not to use a polish hardener as I think it does them good to have the air on them. I also keep them very short for a few weeks to prevent any splits or breaks.

Hard as Hoof and Solar Oil plus nail envy

I had my nails done for years with no issues, moved house and went to a new person and within 5 visits my nails were shot to pieces. They were extremely thin, short, peeling and I thought ruined forever. I used Essie hard to resist nail repair and the apricot oil (bought from boots) and in about 3 weeks they were miles (miles) better. They looked better almost within a few days and the hard to resist protected them from splitting any further. Good luck

Agree with others, I'd avoid hardener for now. CND Rescue RXx would certainly help. Put it on 2-3 times per day. It's like an oil but it has keratin proteins that bond with the nail. You can get it from Amazon.
