Very long thick hair

My hair is long (down to my boobs) mid-dark brown and very thick. I usually wash is every 5-6 days and then straighten it (this helps calm it down).

I'm in my early 30s, is this at all fashionable? I don't know what to do with it at all, I just wear it down all the time, I feel like it's taking over a bit

I've had a really short Bob in the past but it's so thick this can make it stick out if it's humid or my hair gets wet. Think, Lego hair.

What is actually fashionable/nice nowadays for a woman in her 30s?

Looking at other mums most don't seem to have such long hair and it feels like nobodies is as thick as mine 🙄

Keeping it long is probably your best bet OP, I recently had my long thick hair cut and regret it. Thought it would make me look younger and fresher but did the opposite and is really hard to tame, there's no weight anymore to help. Just treat yourself to some really good hair products - no silicones or sulphates. Blow dry after every wash and use heat protection for straightening. Half up half down and quiff ponytails look nice. Maybe try curling the ends?

That's funny, I've had 2 hairdressers drying mine at the same time before. I get so fed up of the comments "it's just so thick and you have sooo much"

I was having to cut my hair out of the hoover today. That's one thing I miss about it being short, much less hair dropped everywhere

Yep, another 2 hairdryers at once here too. And also yes to cutting hair out of the hoover if it is a Dyson (no problem with a Henry!)

@Girliefriendlikespuppies Im going to look out for Cantu conditioner. I currently use Gruum shampoo bars which I love and Tresemme conditioner which works OK

Same here, @GarlicGrace.

Ignore any calls for thinning and chopping, OP! Enjoy what you have while you have it!

I agree, I had thick long hair straight (dark) and struggled to find clips big enough to put it up with and it would feel heavy on back of my head when it was up, but people often complimented me on it. I think that regarding hair styles and fashion it is best to disregard what’s fashionable and go with what suits you. My hair has got thinner now I’m in my late 50s but because I don’t have a thin face I think it still looks ok long and besides I couldn’t be arsed styling it and couldn’t afford to get it cut regularly every 6 or 8 weeks as you would need to it shorter. I get it cut every three months. It’s quite a bit lighter now as I’ve not dyed it for ages other than a semi permanent gloss and a little shorter, it used to be past bra at back, it doesn’t cover my boobs now but that’s due to gravity lol! Many people would love to have thick long hair just look at the amount of products sold for hair thickening or hair growth. I think a lot of hairdressers want the business so are always trying to get you to do something different. Having had mine layered and permed in the 80s ,I spent years growing it out. Like others have said enjoy it while you have it!
