Heels for a wedding - for someone who can't wear heels!

I am looking for nice shoes for a wedding I have in early Nov.

I seem to manage in a low heel for a while but I really struggle. One of the best pairs I ever had were actually from Lidl they had a decent heel, about 4 inch and I stay all night in them.

This is a dress I wore to a wedding a few years ago. The one I have for this wedding is a lighter shade of blue but similar design.

The new one I have is very plain also. What accessories would you think? It doesn't have a belt the new one.

Budget for shoes - if I will only be in them for a few hours and never wear them again £40 if I could wear them again £100

Belt/ necklace - I'm really not sure but not a lot. I WFH and live on a farm I don't dress up much ever

These! I too can't wear heels but have the mid height sandals and they are actually comfortable and also look higher than they actually are. They've now got lots of shoe and boots that height too, and I think returns are pretty easy if you decide against them.

A similar price point to Esska are Sargasso & Gray. They are wide fitting. DD swears by them.

Just wear flats! I don’t think I will ever wear heels again - thanks, Covid!

pontipinemum · 09/10/2023 21:51

Thanks a mill everyone for the great suggestions.

I have shoes from my own wedding that I am able to wear. They've had quite a few outings by now they're Dune and not too high. I might just trot them out again and wear them for church/ pics then buy a nice pair of flats for after dinner.

No they don't. Heels if anything can look very passé now.

What, you don't think flats ever look frumpy with skirts?

I wore my Esska Charlies to a wedding this weekend and my ankles were the size of melons by the end, I was horrified! I think it's because they're quite heavy, being platforms. They're not uncomfy though!

The comfiest smart/formal shoes I ever had were some mid-height block heel sandals from Next, their comfortable range (maybe Forever Comfort?) - couldn't believe I was still dancing at midnight in those!!

Toddlerteaplease · 10/10/2023 15:12

I really wouldn't bother at all with heels. I'm rubbish in them, so just go with flats.

MrsKypp · 10/10/2023 16:21

I love platform sandals. The heels look high, but with the front of your feet on the platform they're more comfortable.

How about these in metallic silver https://www.dunelondon.com/molten-leather-mid-platform-sandals-gold-0087504510025516

A bit more than your budget but Esska shoes are amazing. I wore them all day and night at my wedding. https://esskashoes.com/

I second Irregular Choice, got some for my daughter's wedding. I'm also a fan of gel insoles.

These John Lewis Mary Janes are apparently 'the' shoe to be wearing. There are waiting lists for them.

Ophy83 · 10/10/2023 19:36

What size feet are you?

Esska shoes are brilliant, seriously no pain at all. However they are over budget and currently not on sale. They do have some limited sizes on their samples and seconds page, mostly size 4/37:

Regardless of the fact that they look more suitable for a child those shoes would be exceptionally uncomfortable due to the absolute flatness and lack of any support. I can guarantee that if I wore those for the day I'd be crippled by evening and the next day my feet would be in agony.

Agreed Esska are good. I got a metallic pair over lockdown.

Coffeepot72 · 14/10/2023 09:43

I also struggle with heels but would not go to a wedding in flats (sorry). A block heel, lowish, works me for. And definitely something where my foot is strapped in, not slip-on/off style.
