What to do with a gift voucher I can’t/don’t want to use?

A couple of friends bought me a gift voucher for a sustainable fashion brand. In theory it’s a great gift as they know I’m in need of some new clothes and prefer sustainable clothing. The only this is that none of the things on the site appeal!

I’m 40+ with young children and the brand they’ve chosen has lots of (beautiful) long satin dresses, cropped tops etc. No accessories or shoes. I’ve waited a few months in the hope that the winter stock would be better for me, but it all seems to be tight, short, backless, glamorous etc. So, what can I do? Should I try and see if the brand will refund me/my friends? Or is there a way to sell it on? I looked on Vinted and couldn’t see any vouchers sold that way, and it’s a fairly niche brand anyway so I don’t know who might buy it.

I’d hate to hurt my friends’ feelings as it was such a kind and thoughtful gift (and maybe I should be flattered that they think I’m slim & glam!) but I really don’t want the voucher to go to waste. Plus I really could do with a cosy knit and a waterproof jacket for Autumn so it would be great if I could get some of the money back.

You could try listing on eBay, vouchers used to go quite well on there.
I’d maybe buy underwear or basics/accessories or gifts for other people with it.

I sold a giftcard on FB, the buyer paid me by paypal and I scratched off the coating on the back of the card and sent them a photo of the number. I let it go for a bit less than the actual value.

Only thing with FB is that the giver might see you selling it so perhaps use an anonymous site like ebay

Just sell it. If your friends find out just be honest.

There is a site called Cardyard you could try. It has good feedback

Thanks for the suggestions. Cardyard sounds good but unfortunately they don’t accept vouchers from this site. I might give eBay a shot though. It looks from a quick search there and on Vinted that the brand is quite popular for resale (it’s a quite niche & trendy) so hopefully there will be some interest

One option could be to see if any of your friends or family would be interested in buying the voucher from you. You could offer it to them at a discounted price, which could be a win-win for everyone.
If those options don't work, you could try selling the voucher online on websites like eBay or Facebook Marketplace. While it might be a niche brand, there could still be people out there who are interested.
I hope you're able to find a solution that works for you and that you're able to find some cozy knits and a waterproof jacket for the Autumn. If you're ever looking for gift vouchers, I recommend using gift card software. It's super handy and makes the process a lot easier.
