Tips for curly hair

My hair has a natural wave and the British climate is a major problem. I spend time styling my hair in the morning and step outside for it to become a frizzy mess instantly. Please share tips for defining curls and reducing frizz!

I use the heat protectant spray from only curls. It helps in the humidity from heat when it's hot here. It might work for the cool wet weather too?

Curl creme and gel is what I use.

I use frizz ease shampoo + conditioner. Then frizz ease serum + Boots own pink curling cream (absolutely awesome). Finally a little of Phil Smith Curly locks curl perfecting spray. I let my hair dry naturally + the spray helps sets the curls slightly solid like mouse to stop them sagging, but its much lighter than a mouse; one touch + the stiffness is gone. If it gets a bit frizzy or the curls sag, a bit of water + light touch of curl cream + its tamed. Frizz ease is the most expensive out of all these! There are so many expensive curl creams, don't spend until you've tried Boots own!

Also I minimise brushing or combing. I only use a wide toothed comb or my fingers. If I give it a proper brush or comb, any curls that appear after will only last a day before frizzing up. My hair always looks rubbish after a hair cut + I used to wonder why. Now I know its just because my curls hate combing.

I do the following:

Wash - Argan shampoo
Condition - Argan conditioner
Scrunch gel all over (I know scrunching is very 90's!)
Hairspray when wet
Dry naturally for half an hour
Dry with the hairdryer
More gel and Hairspray

It's a faff and takes a good hour but the pay off is ringletty curly hair that only needs washing every 4-5 days 😊

It might be worth you looking into Merwave products. I have wavy, not curly.hair and they work well for me. There's a FB page you can join if you want to know more.

The downside though is the initial kit is really expensive so is a bit of a risk. I also bought the Only Curls starter set which is cheaper but it doesn't work as well with my type of wave. Unfortunately with curly or wavy hair there is a bit of trial and error about what works.
