Microblading didn't work for me, what else can I try?

I had microblading around 6 months ago, I spent ages researching and found a very experienced lady, she did a wonderful job of giving me very natural looking brows. However, even after 2 touch ups, they have almost completely faded on one side and only partly there on the other. So after £400 I am still drawing my brows on every day ☹️

I think the main issue is that I am a very sweaty person and my skin didn't hold on to the pigment as I literally sweated it out.

Any ideas of other options I can try or are there none? Thanks

My technician said the same about microblaring, as I also have oily skin. So I have semi-permanent tattoo brows, I think they are also called ombre? So not with microblading blade but tattoo machine. They have lasted brilliantly.

I have semi-permanent tattoo brows (ombre) too (due to alopecia). I find that they fade quite a lot in summer (I'm guessing due to strong sunlight) but that some pigments are longer-lasting than others.

The last touch-up was a couple of years ago and a reasonably evident line remains. It certainly needs supplementation with ordinary make-up if/when I want a 'wearing make-up' appearance, but it is fine as a basic 'normal' look.

I find it very useful and reassuring to have it as the basic outline when I want to apply make-up, and I also like its subtlety. If you want 'statement' eyebrows it won't be for you, but if you are just looking for a backgroundy vibe it is fine.

KatharinaRosalie · 03/10/2023 08:45

mine do not need any supplementation, had them last topped up a couple of years ago. I have very sparse and fair natural eyebrows, so seems the results can vary?

Babygirl888 · 03/10/2023 08:47

Did you have microblading or hairstroke?

mulesrules · 03/10/2023 08:55

Interesting about the ombre, maybe that would work better for me. She started off doing the individual hairstrokes, then the second time she said she would try some shading too. Then the final touch up she said she would use more needles (?) but still one side is barely there.

Also there are different techniques for tattoo, my sister has hairstroke that I think actually looks better, but mine are powder, as there isn't much natural brow to fill in.

Babygirl888 · 03/10/2023 09:00

Ok. Microblading is notorious for fading fast especially on very oily skin/ exposed to sun. Nano machine / hairstroke method is done with a machine more similar to a tattoo gun and lasts alot longer, has a much more defined appearance aswell. But i know a girl who does both and she says even if you sleep on your side, the friction causes it to fade. Microblading is usually better for fairer brows. I do natural eyebrows, if you post a picture, I can give some recommendations?

mulesrules · 03/10/2023 09:10

@Babygirl888
Slightly rubbish pic but you can see my original brows and then healed from the first top up, they have faded significantly since then especially on my right side.

They are a big improvement on your natural brows so thats great.

My personal opinion is the ink colour could be a shade or 2 darker maybe (they always lighten up over time and you have naturally dark hair from what i can see) and I really think you'd benefit from full hairstroke or ombre. - with ombre the beginning of the brows, closest to the nose is a hairstroke method with a fuller / more filled in look towards the tails and ends. Ill show pics of what i mean,

Naturally, I wouldnt be able to recommend much as theres not as much natural hair to work with. Ill send over to my friend who does semi permanent brows and see what she thinks x

Babygirl888 · 03/10/2023 09:53

So this is the ombre, you can see its almost block filled in towards the end with the beginning more natural. Its hard to see from only pictures if this would suit you, it can have a much harsher appearance to begin with.

If you are happy with all of your brows, besides the fading ends, maybe regular top ups would be a better option, but defeats the point of having 'ready brows' all the time! Ill let you know what the tech says x

mulesrules · 03/10/2023 14:11

@Babygirl888 thanks so much for taking the time to reply, I love the look of those brows, itself what I wish mine looked like!

Maybe ombre is a better fit for you! Have a consultation and see what they say - i cant see as much as i would in person obviously but i think microblading is always a good start into semi perm makeup but it doesnt give the desired look for everyone. Have a go even doing some brow mapping with an eyebrow pencil with a more filled in look and see how you feel about it.

londonmummy1966 · 03/10/2023 14:32

@Babygirl888 your friend isn't based in London is she as need mine done as they have a "hole" in them with no hair and an awkwardly placed chicken pox scar

Babygirl888 · 03/10/2023 14:39

@londonmummy1966 im in south east london, she's based in orpington. I think she runs more as an academy and teaching the trade now, but i can pass you her page details and maybe she can direct you to a colleague?

Babygirl888 · 03/10/2023 14:45

@londonmummy1966 she does still offer treatments, just checked her website. Am i allowed to post her website on here or does it have to be on a private message?

londonmummy1966 · 03/10/2023 14:48

@Babygirl888 Thank you - probably better to DM me as she might not want it on here? Orpington would work well for me.

@Babygirl888 my eyes are the exact same colour as yours. What colour do you think they are ? Totally random detail sorry !

Babygirl888 · 03/10/2023 15:16
