How on EARTH do I get the creases out of my One Hundred Stars Rachel dress?! Help!

Just that really. Never worn it. Tried ironing on one dot as instructed: took and hour. Still as bloody creased. I'm sure they've just reappeared.

Tried hanging in steamy bathroom for 20 mins. No.

Argh!!!

Don't have a steamer. Would a dry cleaners do it?

What has anyone else done. I love it. It's cigar storks and looks amazing on me with a belt. But I look like I've slept in it!!!

What do the instructions say? Can't you iron it under a thick towel? Or spray it gently and iron under a towel? Sounds like it'll need damping a bit

caramond · 30/09/2023 18:19

Before I got a steamer I sometimes sprayed garments with water (using a plant mister type bottle) and let them dry, that usually gets most creases out.

Ten minutes in a tumble dryer then hang it up? Has worked on all sorts of fabrics for me

banivani · 30/09/2023 18:26

hotter iron, at least two dots for viscose IME. Tbh I often just keep mine on three dots for everything except wool and silk, but I take care to not hold it against the fabric for long (it’s more like I use the steam then). Plenty of steam and/or spray it lightly with water to dampen it. Take care not to drag iron, press not pull.

banivani · 30/09/2023 18:30

Oh and try ironing it on the reverse side - the seams are so easily marked through by the iron so they go shiny and white.

I've got a scarf from 100 stars. I iron it on a fairly hot iron and it's fine. Just go up the heat settings gradually

Won't that melt it?

ByTheNine · 30/09/2023 18:47

No, I've done it with a polyester dress and it was fine. A lot of tumble dryers have a "relax creases" setting and that's what I usually use

sleepyscientist · 30/09/2023 18:51

Buy a steamer honestly it's the best thing for delicate fabrics

WeRateSquirrels · 30/09/2023 19:00

If it’s viscose, it really needs some steam.

DisforDarkChocolate · 30/09/2023 19:04

Buy a steamer, you won't regret it.

Ah I see! Thank you

I use a big white cotton handkerchief on delicate fabrics, sometimes I mist the fabric first, handkerchief over the top and then iron. It means you can turn the iron up a bit.

LonelyAndLostToo · 30/09/2023 19:31

Hang it in the bathroom while showering. The steam from the shower will work

smokingcarriageonly · 01/10/2023 18:18

I have that exact dress OP, it's gorgeous.
I hang mine upside down from the hem, squirt with water, let dry.

smokingcarriageonly · 01/10/2023 18:27

Is it the creases from folding or creases in the pleated sort of drapey cowl around the neckline? The neckline bit does sometimes look crumpled but if you wet it and hang it upside down so it's hanging as straight and flat as possible it should dry a bit better.
Tbh if you can make your peace with some rumpling you'll get more enjoyment from wearing it 😀 It's very drapey and pleaty, it's a feature, not a bug 😀

It's unwearable currently, from the packet. It's crimped. I'm not into perfection, but this is ridiculous!

One dot iron is all they give you, I'm thinking I need to contact them. It's certainly never going to look like the photo on the website!

It's not polyester, it's viscose

Right! I was scared in case I spoilt it. Will try

I have some 100 stars 'lounge pants' that I imagine are the same fabric. They can definitely take two dots on the iron (I go to three dots, very carefully), and if you spray with water first all the creases should come out. One dot is just them covering their back - the heat is so low it wouldn't get creases out of anything. Definitely do NOT tumble dry though, it will shrink...
