Footwear that’s not heels

Thoroughly fed up of heels and starting to feel they look dated.

My big dilemma now is I have quite a few nice fitted dresses for the office that I used to wear with heels, any idea what shoes I could wear instead?

Not really a fan of ballet flats as I’m quite short so think they make me look very young/childish.

I have the same issue. Winter is ok as I have some flat riding style boots that work well but the rest of the year is tricky. I don't mind ballet flats but I'd like something smarter that isn't a heel.

Erm … Grin

Are you somewhere else in the world? Heels have been out of fashion in England for a good five years. Mostly replaced with trainers (which I never wear) or any kind of flat shoe.

Right now loafers and Mary Jane shoes are the fashionable option. Ironically heels are creeping back into mainstream style!

I haven’t worn heels for a good 4 years to be honest, but I want to start wearing some of my old clothes I used to wear with heels now I’m slimmer.

Really on the Mary Jane’s? Never seen anyone look good in them but open to be proven wrong.

I do wear trainers quite a bit but they’re not really suitable for my office.

Loafers can be nice. Mary Janes are frumpy and a bit childish looking.

Half the fashiony folk I know are wearing Mary Janes so I think they must be A Thing currently.

Heels are so far out of the norm in my orbit that I've been shocked to see a professional woman wearing them on tv Grin

I’m quite short and I love heels as it makes me feel more polished. However they are definitely not as popular now and my knees simply can’t hack it any more. But there are times in my job that trainers just don’t cut it, so I’ve bought some patent Clark’s brogues to fill that gap in winter.

If you want to know what is in fashion at the moment, take a look at The Row’s website:

https://www.therow.com/en-gb/collections/women-shoes

Or Marsell:

https://www.marsell.com/uk_en/

Or Zara:

https://www.zara.com/uk/en/woman-shoes-l1251.html?v1=2291305

Then just replicate at your own preferred price point.

What about boots?

Agree with PP, heels are pretty rare still . Loafers, brogues, ballet flats, MJs, low-profile leather trainers (plimsole not running shoe style) are what I see most often, even paired with the return to more formal tailoring and slim skirts. Lots of chunkier soles this year which contrasts nicely I think.

Look at R&B's back to work edit, majority are flats. Flattered has lots of options that go with workwear.
