How long should trainers last?

I bought these from John Lewis at the end of March this year and probably started wearing them May. The back of the heels inside the shoes are all rubbed away already.

That's poor. I expect them to last at least a year

Did they fit you properly? Did your feet move about inside the shoes? Do your shoes normally wear quickly or unevenly?

I'd be tempted to return them.

I agree that if they fit you properly, then unless you are wearing them for a daily 5km walking commute then I'd expect them to last longer.

It is covered by trading standards, shoes are expected to last more than 6 months. I can't remember exactly which bit, but I've used it to successfully argue a replacement before (not a refund).

Thanks for your opinions. I wasn't sure whether I was being unreasonable but I will return them to John Lewis this week. They were really comfortable and fitted me perfectly so it is disappointing.

I mean, it's very dependent on the person who wears the shoe. You can tear down a shoe in a month, if not worn properly, and it can also last you a lifetime, if worn properly and maintained the right way.

If you have problems regarding the shoe heel being worn out rather fast, you could consider buying heel guards. It's a kind of gel plaster, that you fit into the heel, so that the shoe doesn't bite into your heel - aswell as you not damaging the heel of the shoe any further.

Abdu. I have never had problems with shoe hells being worn out rather fast in the past hence asking this question - but thanks for your insight.
