Navigating a new body (big weight loss!) and fashion

Help wise people! I’ve recently lost 6st and I’ll be honest am completely and utterly lost as to what I should be wearing. I’m used to shopping in the plus sized sections where everything felt the same and I’d live in jeans & t-shirts on weekends then just random dresses I purchased from Boden for work.

I went shopping yesterday but just wandered aimlessly around H&M, Zara, Mango etc all shops I can now find lots of options in but I’ve got no idea what’s in fashion or what would look nice on my new body.

I’m size 14 bottom, size 12/14 top, 36F bra so fairly busty.

Any outfit ideas appreciated, either weekend wear or work, fairly casual work doesn’t need to be full suit or anything just comfy for all day. Insta accounts to follow for inspiration also appreciated. Thank you 😁

Congratulations on your weight loss!

I would recommend grabbing some clothes you have always wanted to wear and try them all on.

Work out what works and what doesn't. Also what you feel completely comfortable in.

For example, I really hate floaty fabrics and busy patterns and skirts. By excluding them, I am generally only left with a handful of items which I might buy if they look good on me.

Enjoy!

Yes, congratulations on your weight loss!

I agree with the previous poster.
Try stuff on that you have always wanted to wear. See what works for you!
Just try it, and see if you feel comfortable in it, and if it looks good on you.

Is there perhaps a celebrity whose style you admire and who has got about the same size as you? Look to that celebrity for inspiration.

I have never tried it, but many people appreciate the help of a personal shopper/personal stylist from a store. Might be worth the money.

Do you have any stylish friends that you could ask?
Someone who is both stylish, honest, and kind?

Good Luck! Enjoy!

Congratulations!

I've had a similar weight loss and feel in the same predicament. What I have learned though is to keep trying things on, in smaller sizes, until you hit 'too small' and then obv. buy slightly bigger. I found my brain couldn't process the new size and I kept buying things that were ok, but still a bit too big.

Get a personal stylist appointment at John Lewis.

Sign up for who what wear - brilliant daily e newsletter which showcases lots of on trend styles as well as classics - I’ve found it invaluable in working out my style after massive weight loss.

Same here! I've 'only' lost 2st but am a completely different shape, I have no idea what to wear! I've gone from a size 16 to a nice size 12. So currently continue to buy things that 'fat me' would wear (and I could hide under) in a slightly too big size!

Well done on your loss!
I’ve lost 14.5 stone since Nov 21, and have been kind of stable for the past year or so… It’s only very recently I’ve stopped looking at size 12/14 amd tink img they won’t fit-they do! What I’ve found is that although I’d been overweight for a good 25 years, I’m still drawn to a similar kind of style as I used to be, which for me is more about classics than high fashion.
Vinted has been great for me. It lets you try things without too much financial commitment-I’ve only had a couple of duffers.

Id agree with @DuchessOfSausage re a John Lewis stylist.I did an online session in the summer and my stylist had really paid attention to the questionnaire I’d filled in beforehand, and gave me some good suggestions with absolutely no pressure to buy.

it’s very daunting at first, but enjoy your new body!
