Please tell me about the comfiest bra you've ever owned

I recently had a double mastectomy with reconstruction and I'm finding bras so so uncomfortable. I need to wear one day and night for the next 6 weeks and my incisions are underneath, all the bra bands are digging in, so tight and driving me mad. Everything is swollen at the mo but boobs aren't that big. I just want something incredibly comfortable that doesn't feel like I'm wearing a bra, especially at night.

It needs to be:

Not underwired
Not too tight/restrictive
Some support
Easy to pull on/up from my feet because I can't get my arms over my head yet
Not a super thin band that's going to rest on my scars
Not too expensive

Does such a thing exist? I've tried a few stretchy bralets, sports bras and post surgery bras (the front opening ones) but I hate them all 😩

Any recommendations please and thank you!

I bought a couple of of "comfort bras" from Asda after I broke a rib at under boob level. So comfy that I couldn't bear to wear wired bras ever again after rib healed. They come up small so I needed a large despite being a 34 C

The simiya comfort bra from Amazon is good. I am 34FF/size 14 and the XL is super comfy. They wash well, come in a 2 pack for £14. I also like to step into my bras!

Book an appointment at M&S, the ladies there are amazing at their jobs and will surely have helped other people like yourself. It's free and you get half an hour of their time.

Sloggi zero. Not for the bigger boobed apparently. But v comfy.

Molke Bras. Scottish women run firm, their all material bras look like they won’t support but they do. I step in and pull up as well. good support.

Sloggi zero feel bralettes - cannot wear anything else since I found these, they are amazing!

ElizaWinter · 22/09/2023 18:32

Watching with interest as I'm fed up of uncomfortable underwire bras but I need the support.

A custom made-to-measure one from Mardybum Boutique 😍 I know she also makes special post mastectomy bras as I've seen them on her instagram.

I’ve been living in Primark crop tops all summer. Surprisingly supportive (I am not small chested), double thickness, really really comfy! They had lots of colours a few months ago…I know it says pyjama top but they worked well enough!

Also the M&S body bralettes - £12 and so soft and comfy. I’ve heard good things about the Arket seamless wireless bras but haven’t tried one yet.

saveforthat · 22/09/2023 19:06

M&S do a sleep bra. I bought two after breast surgery and wore them day and night for weeks. I have big boobs. They are not the most supportive bra but definitely the most comfortable.

Cantonet · 22/09/2023 19:09

Boody bralettes made from Bamboo.
They are so soft, breathable & comfortable. I used to wear the Sloggi Zero feel but found them a little sweaty in summer & hence switched over.

I had mastectomy and reconstruction later on, but still wear Nicola Jane bras, designed for mastectomy, even though i could wear a regular bra now. They are just so well made and comfortable. Mostly not underwired with slightly wider straps and a little more elastic under the cups so they don't move around.

Doggymummar · 22/09/2023 19:17

Sugar Candy so comfy I got three for a tenna from Vinted. Had new before but lost weight and they were too big.

I love these for comfort wear, super soft with a nice band that's got good straps too and just all around very soft and comfortable.

Oooh lots of great suggestions, thanks! Will defo look into them. And maybe go for a fitting in m&s when the swelling has gone down a bit- not sure what size I'll end up eventually as they're both a bit frankenboob at the mo Confused

If you go for a Molke, the racer back and flexi fit styles are a bit softer elastic. The cross over ones felt like they were caving my ribs in.

@jasper333 - M and S are notorious for having terrible terrible bra fittings. So many people on bra threads say this and I have personal experience. Avoid like the plague.

I dont recommend without having tried it and I've had about 5 fittings throughout pregnancy and afterwards.
