What to wear to the airport in November?

spookyboooo · 22/09/2023 13:28

Travelling mid November so I'm assuming it's going to be chilly.
Heading to airport for 7 am but luckily we only have to walk from hotel to terminal which is 1 min walk
It's a 5 hour flight to a hot country
What would you wear ?
I want to look stylish

You're not going to freeze on a 1 minute walk and airports are always roasting so I'd wear something that's appropriate for wherever you're going and comfortable to travel in. It depends what sort of holiday it is though and where you're going e.g. if it's the middle east (which seems quite likely with a 5hr flight!) then you might need something more conservative.

WandaWonder · 22/09/2023 13:34

Whatever you normally wear then

welshweasel · 22/09/2023 13:36

Maxi dress, trainers, jacket/cardi

LonelyFlans · 22/09/2023 13:38

I'm flying in October and planning to wear

  • big scarf (which should also keep me warm on the flight)
  • structured joggers (look like trousers - with pockets - but stretchy)
  • short sleeve top & shirt to go over this
  • going to buy a packable down jacket to where in the Uk but that won't take up much space when I'm in a hot climate
  • smart trainers (with flip flops in my hand luggage

Are you a super celebrity ? Because I have the feeling that the paps won’t be out at 7.00 am to take the photo of a bog standard MNer so looking stylish is frankly a waste of effort (unless you are gunning for an upgrade to first class). I would go for comfortable with no tight bits including shoes, plus something like a big scarf that you can use as a blanket, and spend the styling time having a second cup of coffee.

Fair enough.

Something very warm over layers. If it's hot on your holiday, you'll really feel the cold when you arrive back in the UK.

youveturnedupwelldone · 22/09/2023 13:57

I'd focus on that you're going to wear when you return, you'll feel the cold!

For a 1 min walk to the terminal I would wear what you want to have on at the other end plus one light layer for the plane, scarf in your bag just in case.

Another thing we do is wear our trainers on the cold end and pack sandals to change into immediately on the warm end.

Moveoverdarlin · 22/09/2023 13:58

I’d wear black good quality leggings, vest, loose cashmere jumper, trainers, stylish scarf. I’d then wear the same on the way home. I’d avoid taking a big coat or boots.

Hopingforbetterluck · 22/09/2023 13:58

Floaty trousers, vest top with shirt/cardigan over it and sandals. Or leggings and nice top. I second the large scarf so you can use it on the plane too as it always gets cold. I’ve been to Cape Verde and it’s quite breezy so can feel chilly on a night so you can use the scarf as a shawl in the evening on holiday.

I personally never wear shoes to travel in that I won’t use while on holiday. I’d rather have cold feet for a few minutes walk into the airport.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 22/09/2023 15:35

I would wear either harem trousers/light joggers with vest and shirt over or dress with leggings underneath and cardigan. Slip on trainers for the journey and sandals in my hand luggage. Remove extra layers in the airport on arrival. Personally I tend to find aeroplanes cold so I always wear a light puffa jacket to the airport which doubles up as a pillow on the plane and is very useful for the return journey when waiting in the taxi queue. I guess if you are staying in a hotel at the airport you may not need this.

BeginningToLookALotLike · 22/09/2023 17:44

I went on holiday to a hot country last month. On the way back the flight was delayed and the airport was cold! I was so glad I had brought a big scarf (and had told DH to pack a light cardigan in his hand luggage).

sonjadog · 22/09/2023 19:56

When flying somewhere hot, I usually wear whatever I would wear there (probably a sundress of some sort) and I have tights that I wear underneath to get to the terminal and a warm wrap. The tights take up next to no room in my bag when I take them off on the flight and the wrap can be handy on the plane or as an extra layer on holiday.

But for a 1 minute walk, I probably wouldn't bother with the tights. I'd just be a bit cold for that minute.

KirstenBlest · 22/09/2023 20:14

It's when you come back you feel the cold, and everything seems to take longer.
Later in the year, the temperature tends to drop. I went to a hot country in September, and it was t-shirt weather when we left and autumnal when we came back. I was glad to have a jacket.

Are you on Instagram?

If so, have a look at Aline Lowry as she does loads of lovely and classy travel outfit ideas

Yettisrus29 · 22/09/2023 21:18

Layers! I wear jeans/trousers, a t-shirt, cardigan, denim jacket(unless the UK is in the middle of a heatwave like last summer then I don't bother) and converse with socks. I don't care how warm it is at the other end, I'm always cold on a plane and at stupid o'clock in the morning when I'm tired even more so.

I once wore shorts and never again I spent the whole flight freezing cold and I'd rather not have my bare inner thighs rubbing together in a dress or skirt whilst constantly trying to get comfortable on a faux leather plane seat.

Bearpawk · 22/09/2023 21:43

If you're taking trainers on holiday, wear them.
If not I'd wear sliders/ birks with socks and some slouchy trousers, I love the free people 'bay to breakers' trousers for holiday travel, with a t shirt and denim jacket.

HappiDaze · 23/09/2023 00:43

Just wear your normal casual clothes
