Botox: is it the done thing nowadays for thirty somethings?

Recently I have heard of lots of women in their 30's having botox. One even had a botox party and invited all her mates.

Have you had it?

No freakin' way. I'm 43. But I am neither yummy nor waggy.

motherinferior · 04/03/2008 21:11

Nope.

I'm 44.

I am not madly yummy but am quite personable for an old boot.

hecate · 04/03/2008 21:11

No and I never would. All part of our youth-worshiping culture, which I think is totally ridiculous and actually rather damaging.

ChorusLine · 04/03/2008 21:12

The Hospital Group are advertising it lots at the moment for £99 - normally £240.

Have to admit would love my frown lines to disappear but a little scared to have it done

themoon66 · 04/03/2008 21:12

Am tempted I must admit... price puts me off a bit, plus scary stories about droopy eyelids and stuff.

Bluestocking · 04/03/2008 21:15

"Quite personable for an old boot" sums up my look very well, MI!

lilacclaire · 04/03/2008 22:33

Yes, im 32 and love it for my crows feet and forehead lines, works like a dream.

I am in my 30s and I have no intention of having it done. Don't know anyone in RL who has had it.

dirtygertiefromnumber30 · 05/03/2008 21:28

but can you raise your eyebrows after?

No. Little acknowledged fact about botox, you can always tell and and it doesn't make you look younger, it just makes you look like you've had botox.

dirtygertiefromnumber30 · 05/03/2008 21:33

hmmm. ok.

was it VERY noticeable, or did people just say things like 'you look well, have you done something to your hair' etc

x posts rantinghw!

dirtygertiefromnumber30 · 05/03/2008 21:35

hmm. am tempted.

paddingtonbear1 · 05/03/2008 22:54

I haven't and I am nearly 40.
I might be tempted if I get bad wrinkles though.

Wuxiapian · 06/03/2008 11:32

But if you start with botox, where does it end?

I'm 30, but it has ever appealed to me. I think ladies look much better naturally, with faces to match their age.

Yet, a girl I know, 32, started off with botox.
Then a breast enlargement.
Then had ribs removed.

Doesn't the quest to look younger and "better" basically mean you're insecure?

themoon66 · 06/03/2008 11:34

at ribs removed

Wuxiapian · 06/03/2008 11:37

Yes, moon.

I think she needs some work doing to her head instead of her body.

Wuxiapian · 06/03/2008 11:38

Thing is, she was naturally stunning before all this nonsense.

lilacclaire · 06/03/2008 18:57

at ribs removed !
If done well, then you look well.
If done badly then yes you can have a frozen looking face/droopy eyes/everything else you've heard.

sparkleymummy · 06/03/2008 19:02

Apparently dental practices are starting to offer botox in some areas! Bizarre.

Wouldn't do it due to wussness and brokeness, but do have a friend who has had it quite a bit. You can't 'tell' except that it really does make her look younger. She has exceptionally fair skin and I can see why she does it. but for myself, would rather not go through the trauma of 're-ageing' every sixmonths.
