Hello!

I have very fine hair in a chin length Bob. I straighten it everyday.

Would the airwrap be a good purchase? I'd like to do some waves etc

Thanks!

Air wrap definitely best hair styling purchase ever! Bought one last year only after my daughter bought one and I used it - I would not normally spend that much on a hair styler. But it's been fab I can now do waves and I have bought all sorts in the past from Ghd to babyliss and curlers wavewands etc but never got the style I wanted or the patience to spend a lot of time on my hair.
Air wrap is very quick and easy and using the dryer too my hair is in better condition and has grown a lot.
( I don't work for them lol)

i am considering buying one, just worried it will be a waste of money. What is your hair type and do the curls hold? x

NeunundneunzigHorseBallonz · 24/09/2023 02:06

Is the air wrap less damaging than other styling tools? (I have the Dyson dryer and it certainly is)

indecisive28 · 24/09/2023 05:15

I love mine, haven't used my hairdryer or other tools since but I don't think it's great for all hair types. If you buy, make sure you get it direct from Dyson so that you can try and return if it doesn't work for you, I think you get 30 days to do that. Buy from anywhere else and you may have a very expensive mistake!

balzamico · 24/09/2023 06:18

My hair is similar to yours, very fine and can go frizzy.
I love my airwrap, I either use the brush attachment to blow dry it straight or leave to partially/ almost naturally dry then airwrap curls into it. They don't hold as curls but fall to give waves and body. I recommend getting a nylon heatproof glove and it helps me hold the hair round the barrel sometimes (cheap on Amazon)

NameChangePoP · 24/09/2023 08:07

I have the Shark Air Wrap (pretty much the same but £££ cheaper). I have long thick hair, but it's the best hair styling tool I've ever owned. No idea how I managed without it.

WitchyFingers · 24/09/2023 08:11

I have really thin hair but a lot of it. The airwrap gives it so much body its amazing. If you're looking for curls then it's not for you. It gives lovely waves and volume which is what my hair needs!

useitorlose · 24/09/2023 08:21

I have the combined set with the stick dryer/brush tools as well. Those bits get used every day. The airwrap bits gather dust in the case because if I manage to make curls they fall out within minutes. My hair is the same length as yours.

This is exactly it. I wouldn't hold a curl but I want the volume.

I have borrowed a friends - and my hair looks and feels great.

I'm going to keep an eye on the eBay Dyson outlet.

Thank you, everyone. It seems they are worth their weight in gold.

i don’t necessarily want curls but something like the picture attached . Is this a realistic expectation for fine hair?

dyson website say they do 12 months interest free through PayPal so might purchase one that way. Can’t bring myself to shell out £480 in one go.

You could buy it from QVC and take advantage of their 60 day money back guarantee. They also do three easy pay installme ts.

JanetandJohn500 · 24/09/2023 14:41

I got mine 'refurbished' on the Dyson store on eBay on Black Friday last year and paid £230 including a years guarantee. It arrived the next day and was brand new. A great deal to keep an eye out for in the coming months.

Nw22 · 24/09/2023 14:45

I paid about 240 for mine recently from dyson outlet on eBay. It had never been used

WhatACluster · 24/09/2023 17:04

I have a shark one ££ cheaper & it’s bloody brilliant

Dries my thin (but lots) hair in about 4 mins and I use the curl air wrap and takes me minutes.

I still do use my trusty GHD’s for proper straightening

somethinghastochangesoon · 24/09/2023 21:25

Would an airwrap replace a hairdryer?

I have the dyson hairdryer and I'm wondering if I could sell it and replace it with the airwrap?

All I use my hairdryer for is curly blows.

Izzydawg · 24/09/2023 21:43

Mine came with all the attachments - one of which is a hair dryer. Since I've used that to dry my hair over the last year the condition of my hair has improved a lot

BeverlyBrook · 24/09/2023 22:06

Condition of my hair has improved alit using it. I've only ever had compliments on my hair when using it!
Has taken ages to figure out how to use it best. It is horrendously expensive but it is good

somethinghastochangesoon · 26/09/2023 11:14

I really want one. I have wavy prone to frizzy hair.

Will this make it easy to do a curly blow?

The cost though! I'm going to have to up my counted game to pay for this,

Middleagedmeangirls · 26/09/2023 13:57

I also have very fine hair. I've bought the Air Wrap twice and returned it both times. It gives a fantastic wavy, pouffy blow dry but it only lasts half an hour. I even went to the showroom in Oxford St for a free blowdry and demo on how to get good results with it and exactly the same thing happened.

My DD OTOH gets great long lasting waves with hers. But she is fantastic at hair and makeup generally.

if you are going to give it a go, buy direct from Dyson. There is a 35 day returns policy and if you don't like it they will pick up from your house free -QVC has a longer returns time but you have to pay postage and on an expensive item like that it costs a lot.

MabelMoo23 · 26/09/2023 14:41

I’ve got one, I’ve shoulder length fine hair which is thinning due to perimenopause and I bloody love it. I never use the air wrap barrels but I use the hair dryer, straightening brush and hot brush attachment to give volume and I wouldn’t be without it now.

it’s horrendously expensive but I also use it to dry my autistic daughters hair, it’s much quieter and not as “hot” as a normal hair dryer so it’s perfect for her. So for all the above reasons it’s worth the money for us

pumpkintits · 27/09/2023 07:26

I love my Airwrap when I want straight hair, it dries my hair so quickly and I never use my straighteners anymore.

I've still not figured out how to get my curls to really look good on day 2. Day 1 I look like Lord Farquaad because all the curl is in the bottom. Day 2 I wake up and it's a kinky mess with very little defined curl/wave, despite sleeping with it loosely tied up and a silk bonnet.

It also takes ages to curl my hair so I've not practised much! I'll hang around for any tips 😬
