LED Face Mask recommendations

Shouldhavebutdidnt · 19/09/2023 21:01

I'm considering a LED face mask to improve my skin.

Don’t really know anything about them / which to buy. I have a reasonable but not insane budget

My approach is usually very low maintenance

Can anyone help with recommendations / comment?

Thanks

I have the Light Salon one. I like it but have only been using a few weeks so too early to say how good the results are.

Thank you, I’m sure other MN people must have experience of them but I can’t find any threads

I have a hand-held Silk'n. It's hard to say if there was any noticeable improvement, but I think there was some small improvements to skin tone (I have a lot of freckles) and general healthy glow. I think a full face mask would be better, but they are quite a bit more expensive!

I do admit that I have slacked off using it over the summer. I will have to start up again. Because a hand held one can only do a portion of your face at a time, you end up spending an hour with it.

I have the CurrentBody one, which I like. I got it in the sale a few months ago, not sure I would have splurged for the full price. I use it maybe 4-5 times a week, I like it because I don't have to do anything really, just put in on and lie down - either listen to a podcast or music for 10 minutes. I prefer to have my eyes closed, I know some people can walk around with it on, but I find the light distracting.

As for results, I think it is helping my skin (the research for red and infrared light is good - it's supposed to stimulate collagen production), although I also use good skincare so I'm not sure which is doing what really. I would say don't expect miracles, use it consistently and it should help a bit. I see it as another tool in the arsenal, but on it's own it's not going to transform your skin.

I don't have answers but bumping this thread as I'm also thinking about doing some red light therapy, although I'm starting to think that a panel might be better than a mask because it works on more of your skin?

But like you I don't know what I'm looking for really, and hoping someone else does!

I've heard good things about the Dermalux panel - but it's sooo expensive. But could be used on the body for helping with muscle soreness and stuff I suppose. The only thing would be that part of the reason masks are good is that they are in very close contact with the skin, so the light is delivered directly to the skin - the panel bulbs would have to be much stronger to deliver that from 30cms away.

There is a good video here from a dermatologist explaining the irradiance etc. and recommending a few masks.

I have a platinum therapy light panel. It was more expensive than a mask but I use it for knee pain too so it's multi tasking. It has been a good investment, I've had it a few years now, for me personally I think its done more for joint pain than anything else though I think!
